AI is definitely a factor but most of the jobs in our society are bullshit anyway. We don’t actually manufacture anything in the west anymore, so we just have a dearth of useless professional managerial type jobs pushing paper, making PowerPoints and attending pointless meetings. Too many chiefs, not enough indians.
ExxonMobil and other massive multinational oil companies are actually on board with this shit, because they’re big enough to be able to deal with the regulatory hoops. All of their small to mid sized competitors though? They’ll get destroyed, leaving the big boys with a functional monopoly on an industry that won’t be going anywhere anytime soon, regardless of what the eco-warriors claim.
His “husband” recently died from a gastrointestinal infection. So it’s pretty obvious that Glenn buggered him to death. So hey, God is already punishing him for being a homo. I don’t need to bother scorning him for it, since He is already on the case.
But being a gay Jew aside, greenwald has good content and I watch his show frequently. I can roll my eyes at his (admittedly muted) faggisms (like when he waxes poetic about tennis 🙄) and still appreciate his anti-state, anti-authoritarian coverage.
Nothing like a period of frequently dining out to make you realize how bad it is. If you go to even a decent/upscale restaurant often enough you’ll notice an inconsistency in the quality of the meals you receive from one visit to the next. You’re oftentimes eating food that was prepared as long as three days ago and reheated. And the number of times I have sat helplessly at a table while a server (that I’m expected to later tip) lets my food sit at the window while they chat to a co-worker or another table, or I’ve had to sit doing nothing waiting to pay… eating at home is far superior in every way. I can control my own food quality and accurately track my macros. And it’s not a total waste of time and money.
Evolution isn’t like a skill tree that you unlock in a video game. Organisms evolve to fit their environment through selection pressure. The concept of “superior” is meaningless without context. In a place with temperate weather and food basically just laying around, traits such as low impulse control, high melanin levels, brutality, and unfettered promiscuity/rape can actually be evolutionarily “superior”. In a place with brutal winters you need pale skin to absorb more vitamin d, long term planning, community cooperation, a propensity for delaying gratification and more if you want to be able to successfully reproduce.
You’re right… even if AI is poorly implemented, it’ll still give companies an excuse to get rid of all the dead wood who are just professionally moving couch cushions around. I do have to say, I had to call roadside assistance the other day and I noticed their automated voice system (which made sure to tell me it was AI) worked very well though.
