It's always worth preparing and to have hope. I do find these 'bunker/prepping' arguments without perspective. If a true collapse occurs (3rd World Warlord Style Mad Max scenario) then no amount of prepping, short of a million-dollar compound with well-trained people, will lead to 'survival' or anything resembling life today...and maybe that isn't even enough.
Once the collapse occurs, that means the end for all of us and I don't think preppers have mentally registered that. Somehow they think 55 gallon drums of water, 1000 rounds of ammunition, the pile of Chinese shit they bought off amazon and their suburban right-wing friend that lives down the street will perpetuate a semblance of normal, or tolerable life. I don't believe that to be the case.

Good analysis with one caveat. I don't ever see the USA entering into a true civil war of right vs left (as in large scale violence that we typically associate with a civil war). Perhaps a 'cold' civil war; but it will be a continued cultural grind until:
A. Liberals finally win by using the powers of the state to crush their enemies (USA turns into a CBDC totalitarian surveillance state making resistance impossible)
B. Demographic shifts make the civil war irrelevant as the citizens wake up to a USA run by PaJeets, or Muslims or an amalgamation of races (black, Mexican, Somalia) that sends the USA in to a 3rd world shithole status making the left/right paradigm irrelevant
