If you put the cage of any actual gyro horizon in arbitrary position it will not maintain it, within munute or so it will settle in a default position dictated by gravitation. Because of pendulum corrector.

I have a theory, that all that "accidental deaths" does not connected with politics at all. Just think a little. I never heard about any trial that resulted in return of what was stolen to real owners. In the best case, oligarch will be in comfortable VIP prison for some time and some of his assets will be confiscated and will become property of the state, not the people. Then, he will be freed early, and will happily return to his wealth that was formally written to his relatives or friends or was offshored to avoid confiscation.

Both was Eastern Orthodox Churches, so they use Julian calendar for all holidays, prayers in ancient Russian, do not accept any ecumenism and consider Vatican as heretics. Kiev patriarchate Orthodox Church was not officially recognized among Orthodox Churches, but had some relations with few recognized Orthodox Churches of small countries like Makedonia. It was created somwhere in 1992 as a counterweight to Moscow patriarchate Orthodox Church from part of Kiev metropole of Moscow patriarchate Orthodox Church, mostly for political reasons.
Half of Ukraine was Orthodox, Kiev or Moscow patriarchate. Only ~15% of Ukrainian citizens was of Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church, other Christian Churches was represented poorly (less than 5%).
And now, the most interesting thing - Kiev patriarchate was shut down by Ukrainian government headed by Zelensky at December 13 2019. Long before than shit hit fan.

I just question everything. :) I don't know what is real US approach in cold weather countermeasures and very sceptical about "worst .... in decade". Some data shows that freezing weather is not something exceptional in most of US, so people had to somehow be prepared to cold weather. Just want to have all possible info to make some conclusion.
In NC growing zone 7 it's supposed to get at the most -10F, and that is late into winter. It was -30F for a while
-10°F is well below water freezing point. And it does not matter when it supposed to get.
It took out my pump and I have it well fortified for winter. We already had several freezes and this overwhelmed my countermeasures.
What is your countermeasures? To withstand -10°F you definitely need either heated (with that heating cable and insulation) pipes and pump, either have them relatively deep in ground. In both ways if you prepared for -10°F you could have problems only if -30°F will stay for weeks.
As for snowfall, it also barely matter does it fall at 30°F or -30°F. The spade or machinery does not differ.

Most problems with infrastructure in cold weather connected with water freezing here and there. If water freezes in pipes, f.e., than pipes could broke, if water freezes on road, there could be many road accidents and so on. However, if cold weather happens in region, then, usually, infrastructure is prepared for that. Pipes are dug lower that depth of freezing in ground, road services have snow cleaning machines and chemicals to melt the ice on roads. So, even extreme cold for few days would not do much harm and should not be a disaster.

It does not "maintain orientation in 3D", because any aviation gyro horizon is made for completely another task.
Laser "gyros" (AKA Sagnac interferometers) are another beasts, but they do not "maintain position in 3D" too. Their output signal is speed of rotation, not position.
Meanwhile laser gyro is one of the cheapest high quality instrument that will show you Earth rotation and curvature you could make in garage by yourself. I think it is also below $100 thing. You will need 1km of raw fiber (~$20 on aliexpress), 4-way 2x2 fiber splitter (~$7 on aliexpress), laser/photodiode combo with fiber connectors from two-eyed SPF or fiber converter (free from garbage bin) or separate laser and diode with fiber connectors (~$20), battery and resistor to power laser(<$1), handful of resistors with OPamp (<$2) and any multimeter (f.e. DT-830 for <$10). All you need is to connect everything and tune your gyro to lowest possible photodiode signal. Any rotation of the fiber coil will cause signal grow. Including rotation of Eath.
