They were the only company selling cars in the US because the rest had their outlets closed thanks to lockdowns. Billions were pumped in to the economy in stimulus and it bloated.
Now Biden pretty much locked them out of the subsidies other car manufacturers are getting to go electric + markets are crashing and everyone is rushing in to bonds
Before 2020 they were trading for ~$20 it's still 5x higher
I bought a Tesla. It has had problems. Tesla fixed them all. That’s a lot more than I can say for my old Lexus or other vehicles. No manufacturer has any customer loyalty. They’re only in business to make money.
Tesla’s stock value is too high, but it is high because the market believes one day it will actually be worth far more than any other car manufacturer. Please consider, no car manufacturer is also a:
Supply chain — Tesla makes many of its own components, like seats and electronics.
Fueling station network. Remind me again where are the Ford gas stations? Tesla’s supercharging network sells electricity to Tesla owners and soon, all electric vehicles.
Battery manufacturer & soon a mining company.
Dealership / sales / service provider. Most (all other?) car manufacturers are not dealers and do not have their own service operations. What is the value of all those locations from a business perspective?
Insurance carrier? Now Tesla sells auto-insurance.
Power Systems provider (solar and home battery systems). Sure this business seems to be small today, but the market is about hope and future.
Electricity reseller? Tesla is now allowing Tesla Solar customers to sell their excess power to the grid to fill surge demand pricing. This has a huge opportunity to make millions if not billions for Tesla as their deployed powerwalls grow in the installed base.
There are probably other businesses I’m not even considering. But the point is you cannot compare Tesla to any single auto manufacturer as their business goals far exceed the scope of any of them.
Hardly stock price somehow connected with the real price of company, i.e. cost of physical assets, production volume and profits, it is mostly just a gambling on stock exchange.
Falling stock price does not mean that company lost manufacturing capability or whatever real value. Just like rising stock prices does not mean that company got new factories or began to produce something demanded with big profit.
But from the other side - it could be another Musk game. AFAIR, he sold a lot of Tesla stocks to buy Twitter. Now he could bought them back twice cheaper.
Pretty sane, I think. Better have more ownership rights over a real asset, than to hoard money on bank accounts. And if you own a platform that is relatively popular, why not influence stock prices drop one way or another? It is pertty simple today, taking in account all that ESG crap that is spreading among stock traders and large investment funds who play on stock exchanges, so do something ESG crowd will not like on Twitter, wait for stock price drop, buy your property back for cheap. I will not be surprised if Musk will turn Tesla private company eventually too.
wrong. you can't store the needed electricity in large amounts and solar is fake and gay for anything larger than a cabin in the woods. it might become useful once SMR's become widely available...
meanwhile, you can store non-tainted (alcohol-free) fuel indefinitely.

He holds less than 5%.
EV is a scam.
Not really. EV's are wayyyyy more useful for off grid living.
And I know you're that gay shill.
