You have pretty good chances, but if you want to settle out of St.Peterburg, Moscow or other large towns, knowledge of Russian will be a must.
As in any other country you will find here some amazing things and some shit, of course, but in general, life is not significantly different here.
You could find youtube channels of americans who moved to Russia for different reasons, they usually have a good round-ups of things that are differ a lot between US and Russia. One of them (EXPAT American, IIRC) even stated that there are 3 million of American citizens or ex-citizens live in Russia now. Hard to check, really. and I doubt there are too many, even if you include all Russians who got US citizenship and then returned, I think it is less thaт 1million at most, but americans and west europeans are definitely moving here.
IDK about long immigration list, I even heard that immigration for US and EU citizens become easier this year.
