Why do companies keep hiring older and older employees? Could it be that young people aren't motivated, qualified, available? (media.conspiracies.win)

this is the correct answer.. most of the upper management boomers couldnt wait to "downsize" to get "theirs" and off load all their duties to the gen x'rs working under them...

not to mention retire and buy up all the real estate in smaller towns driving out all the younger people to slave away in the cities.. never owning anything.. not even simple apartments..

Amazing the volume of societal damage that can be presided over by a single generation of narcissists

ive said it since 2008 --- "they're slowly killing us..."

im almost 40... ive known so many people in my generation who were completely shot.. over worked with nothing to show for it...

the only people who own any real estate are handed down from their parents or have rich ones...

Sorry if that's your experience but this reads like demoralization. I'm younger than you and most of my peers own at least the house they live in. None were handed down by parents. One friend has numerous properties and he did that by working crazy hours at a lower paying job than most of us and just making that his mission.

There are definitely a lot of problems out there. But this whole "it's impossible to do anything" attitude I see on these alternative websites reeks of defeatism

depends where you live i guess....

from my point of view (canada)

its a waste land of no opportunity cept the very few who can ... before 2020 ... things WERE on the up an up .. and i actually had hope.. but now... not so much..

Yeah, Canada has some of the most expensive land in the world, and the land outside cities is often zoned as Environmentally Protected which means you can't build on it if you wanted to. By far, the majority of land in Southern Ontario, at least, is zoned this way. The low end of house prices in my area has gone up 400% in the last 10 years.

That said, I know people who bought houses without (much) help. It's possible, but you have to have an above average job, low or no debt, and dedicate yourself to nothing else.

Several reason....the population is aging because nobody is having children. In SC when e-verify started they fired all the illegals and hired Americans....many which were older.....we still have illegals in construction (as subcontract labor) but not in restaurants, grocery stores etc that hire employees.

Boomers trusted politicians and the authority of their time and bought in lock stock and barrel trusting social security to be enough along with their 401k. Everyone got hit by the market fuckery and lost a shit ton, then with the current regime killing the dollar they had to go back to work.

As far as the young, allot of them died. Allot of them are disabled due to a vaccine. Allot of them are unprepared for life and still living in parents basements while griping about mental problems or not being able to figure out their gender.

Welcome to crazy town.

Boomers never raised their kids, just sent them off to government school, which taught exactly zero useful skills.

Now the Boomers, who were actually raised by parents, are the only ones who can do anything useful. And still they refuse to train young people and insist they just keep "upgrading" their skills at schools.

Living in family apartment is okay, but you should be saving a significant amount if doing so.

I'd try to make additional money on site. Your family pays to have grass cut or house painted or other stuff? You do that for now on. Should be of mutual benefit.

Or slash the rent by taking on more maintenance projects or renovation projects that increase the value of the property.

Then do both at same time. Get a job that is physically grueling. You'll get exercise and make money at same time.

I've never paid to go to a gym. That's like a hamster running on a wheel.

I can do physical labor, make money, and whip myself into strong physical shape all at once.

If you pay attention to how younger adults talk most of them know their future is already a complete shitshow and they're just trying to enjoy life while they still can, it's honestly bittersweet and kind of fascinating how fast they reached the acceptance stage and started to live accordingly, of my generation only a small percentage didn't have our heads up or asses but even then we have a tendency towards denial with the prepper trend, our heroic fantasies and false sense of security, I'm also guilty of this, but this latest round of adults just instantly accepted that they don't really stand a chance and as a result give no fucks about the waning facade of first world civilization, have to give credit where it's due

im 35 and thought about things this way for more than 10 years. I'm just living in the here and now, while not really thinking too much about the future. right NOW is all we got. we live in the present...not the past OR the future.

to me? the world is so utterly fucked, especially in this country to the point it's not even worth putting in an effort to give them ANYTHING. i just do my own thing and that's that. and ya know what? im very content and at peace with that :)

Government offices are full of useless middle aged women, most of whom failed in life. Meaning they couldn't get husbands or didn't have children. They are government offices employees by day who don't do any useful work, and watch Stephen Colbert show by night with three cats in bed with them

Sounds good to me. I’m approaching 55 and need a job. Will post my resume and such tomorrow.

I changed careers into IT in 2000, the best time ever to change careers into IT. Hopefully I can catch lightening in the bottle again.

The inflection point at ‘71 is interesting. It’s a metric I wouldn’t have thought about with regard to decoupling…

It's probably when boomers entered workforce. Edit: not technically an inflection point that's just due to axis scaling

because our population is slowly aging without being replenished by a big splurge of younger people. combine that with the baby boomer generation being the biggest BY FAR with the most people in it, and there ya go.

combine THAT with the government assistance programs, vaccine or other injuries, or entitled assholes and that's what ya get

No one asked but I'll point out in case it isn't obvious that I was being sarcastic in the title. I think the images clearly illustrates changing demographics, the need for boomers to work longer, and some vax damage stuff recently

permalink save report block reply
▲ 1 ▼
– freedomlogic 1 point 2 years ago +1 / -0

I think the vax is doing damage, I think "long covid" could possibly be real, but not in the numbers they are claiming. More likely to be the vaccine, if I had to guess irregular heartbeat from whatever its doing to the heart.

The medical system is overloaded, even worse in places like Canada where they have "free" healthcare. So its pick and choose who is going to get help and who doesnt. The rest will be gaslit. What they did to me with the work injury anyway.

That being said, when I started coming to canada over a decade ago. One of the first things I noticed was how the roadcrews were all staffed by 20-30 year olds.

But that has slowly changed, the amount of 60 year olds ive seen working at construction sites is insane to me.

Mainly comes down to two things, boomers had these jobs first and they need to keep working longer to afford their extravagant way of life.

Instead of losing out on some temporary wealth and saying no to the conglomerate overlords, they did whatever they were called and beckoned to do. Fucking the millennials in the process. And the generations after us are going to blame millennials for dropping the ball. Its bullshit.

It is all nothing but complete and utter crap.
