You think the Russians searched Chernobyl and found nothing, so they left? How could you possibly know that? Why wouldn't you think they found exactly what they were looking for, then left?
Really, your analysis there focuses on exactly the wrong aspect of it. The question isn't why they left, it's why they went there in the first place. Do you really think they had nothing better to do than to expend military resources during the first incursion seizing a rusty, mildly radioactive tourist attraction? What possible point have you imagined in your analysis there was to that?

Why are they grinding down the Ukrainian military? Because the Western Neo-Imperialists will have it no other way. Russia plainly stated at the beginning that one of their main goals was the demilitarization of Ukraine. Obviously they had hoped for a negotiated settlement concerning the UAF, but all they got is deployed military units. They plan to achieve their objectives and if this is the only path presented, they'll take it.
Ukraine is a complete puppet of the West and will never recover. Here's an article from six months ago and is not propaganda, coming from that maniac Arestovich himself: Ukraine says its defense industry has been almost destroyed. But they won't quit because their masters have not given them permission to quit.
Nor are their master's other puppets doing well, as they are also in the process of demilitarization: Logistic Peril for NATO Weapons to Ukraine: Dwindling stocks of leading-edge systems probably will mean more casualties.
Make no mistake, the war is to destroy Russia, and that's been the plan for over a century. It finally boiled over in a way that Russia could not avoid despite all efforts to do so, including a plea to return to the Minsk accords less than a week before the SMO. I have reason to believe that they've been planning for this unavoidable time since the 90's, and have had to sit on their hands many times because they weren't strong enough to finish what got started. They would not have started the SMO in Ukraine unless they were certain they could finish.
You can make no conclusion about Russia making no formal announcements about Ukrainian nukes, none. They play their cards extremely close to the vest, closer than I ever thought. Who predicted the SMO? No one. Not one single person takes credit for doing that because the entire world was fooled.
The Ukrainians got totally head faked. No one remembers that Big Z said, "There will be no war" right before it started. The US got double head-faked. After weeks of war-mongering and predicting invasion within hours, nothing happened. When they finally gave it up, Russia struck. Note that they didn't even take false credit for being "right"! They all knew how wrong they were, and they were totally unprepared for an actual military conflict. It was supposed to start with the Nazis invading Donbass with Russia on the back foot. They had no idea what was coming. No one did.
I think it's an entirely plausible case, but I think something quite different is actually going on.
First, I would argue that the level of Ukrainian lying is so unlimited and over the top, they wouldn't worry a bit about lying here. So if all this potentially dangerous activity was to come to light, they'd just say, "That's bullshit! It was perfectly fine when we left and so the orcs must have done it either through stupidity or malice or both. How dumb and evil they are!"
Were Russia and the IAEA to present the case as you've described, none of it would make it to Western media. And even if it did, roughly 0% of mainstream normies could make it past the first paragraph, IOW, Ukraine doesn't have much to worry about.
Second, the Ukrainian desire to retake control of the ZNPP cannot be understated. Last I heard, at least 3000 have been killed in the attempt which means probably 10K other casualties, along with numerous pieces of equipment including aircraft. It was more costly than the whole "Kherson offensive", and they kept trying even after stunning losses.
So what's so important about the ZNPP? IDK, but my guess is that they hid the materials for nuclear weapons there, or perhaps finished products. This all recalls similar outsized importance at Chernobyl early in the conflict. The elevated background radiation from the plant would mask all signatures. I believe they want those weapons back for two big reasons.
One reason is that public exposure of their possession of nukes blows their legitimacy out of the water, even among the dumbed-down masses. Not that they're beyond doing it, but any Westerner that backs a nuclear rogue really puts their own legitimacy on the line. And the rest of the multi-polar world will certainly know what's up no matter what excuses or justifications are made.
The other big reason, as I've argued before, is that they would love to arrange a nuclear false flag, but the hang up is they got no nukes at all, not even one. Russia has been systematically grinding the Ukie army under it's boot heel and will continue to do so absent a big change in the dynamic. The only change available is to spark a full-on NATO war, and a nuke false flag in a European capital (Tallinn?) might do that.

The media have been faking direct quotes from high-profile people for several years now. Well, certainly much longer but that's when I noticed.
I first tracked the practice with quotes from Kim Jong-il during the Trump Administration. When I came across some especially inflammatory quote Trump was supposed to react to, I'd check the official North Korean news agency site. Nothing. I'd find something like, "Kim Jong-il congratulates post office on new stamp".
I've seen phony quotes from people like James Mattis, AMLO, and of course DJT:

The bizarre aspect is that these phony quotes are rarely outed, as the one was above. The rest just become part of the "historical record".
As a final strange twist, you'll never guess who alluded to this phenomenon: Melania Trump. Hannity once asked her, "Do you worry about what people say about you?" She answered, "No, they can say whatever they please. But what worries me is things that didn't happen are being written down as history."
This should probably be considered in the larger thesis that the entire conflict was managed behind the scenes (guess who by?). The immediate context was a period known as the Phoney War.
This 8-month-long period was a big plot hole in the script, which is why few are familiar with it and it's never discussed. Poland at that time had been run by a military junta for decades. The UK and France gave Poland a military guarantee for no discernible reason (except maybe loving military juntas?).
"Smart" conventional historians would say that Poland was a tripwire, because the UK and France were waiting for war. Oh really? Because when Poland actually gets invaded by Germany, the UK and France do nothing.
It will only begin to make sense when you throw out all the "sense" conventional historians try to make about it.

Fundamentally, the Constitution places chains on government power. The lesson I take from that observation, therefore, is that they detest the very idea of any limitation on their power. I was trying to say that the Leftists today are demonstrably worse than the Nazis are popularly believed to be. They were quite up front, and quite mild, when you compare their legislation to that of the Democrats. Today's Democrats object to the formal necessity of legislation, and to the Constitution that won't just die.
As for the Commies, there's a fundamental aspect of human nature that they weaponized, which is why it ever had success in the first place. That is, for all the talk of individual rights and free enterprise and so forth (with which I entirely agree), cooperation and sharing and altruism are deeply embedded in the human psyche, perhaps even the soul. These give satisfaction and fulfillment in ways no bank draft ever has. So I wouldn't go along with there being nothing there; it was just entirely perverted.
But back to the National Socialists, I've developed the theory that a small group of agents was sent in with the multi-decade task of destroying Germany (and Russia). They collected "true believers" like Hitler and Hess and Goebbels and formed the NSDAP, advancing the principles you mentioned. That's exactly why they gained strength and a devoted following.
In the fullness of time, agents like Bormann and traitors like Goering turned Germany to it's doom. All of it was orchestrated behind the scenes by the "Cabal". It's a terribly tragic tale from which the German people have not yet recovered.

I've often said that the Leftists of today are worse than the National Socialists were, in that they've gone much further, much faster than their forebears. As for the Communists, at least they kept up some semblance of the "equality" ethos the whole time, many decades.
For historical comparison with the Commies, the Leftists are now embarked on what the Marxist-Leninsts called the "Kulak Operation", or Dekulakization.
The Kulaks were the only group with the resources and therefore potential to organize and challenge the Communists for control. Thus, they were systematically liquidated.
I will leave everyone to guess who 21st Century America's Kulaks are.
I would say that that's not just a rhetorical question, but close to the heart of the matter. They've always been here, right next to us, and we never really took note.

According to Scott Ritter, the match has already been tested. That is, the regular Ukrainian armed forces had been trained to NATO standards, and fought at least as bravely and skillfully as any other NATO military could be expected to. Such regular armed forces were annihilated some time ago.
The Neo-Imperialists know this, of course, but that didn't keep them from provoking the current conflict and such considerations would not keep them from provoking a wider war.

The narrative being sold--which will work perfectly on the Leftists--is that these must surely have contained Every Secret Thing Ever, all the way back to the strength and disposition of Colonial forces at Fort Clinton. There is an additional subtle emotional pressure relief effect: "So close! We'll get them next time for sure!" The peasant extremists will put away any torches and pitchforks and return to their huts for another couple of years.
The social engineering is fascinating. There's something about the "spirit" of it that has been become part of the Leftist mindset. Whereas they preach tolerance and relativism and even nihilism, they're the most intolerant, sanctimonious, rigid absolutists ever.
When was the last time you heard a Leftist say something like, "Well, it's okay if we disagree," or "Don't worry about that, I'll just take care of it for you," or "I'll try my best to get you what you want"? A Long time? Never?

But how did they get this way? My guess is that the victim (or savior) mentality has soaked into them completely over time. If they (or their proxies) are suffering, the cause is obviously that other people are violating the "rules" somehow, and this must be rectified and the offenders punished for their transgressions. Therefore, with whatever minute power they have they will do so. It's unquestionably the right thing to do.

Actually, there is, and it's precisely what the Elite do: they create human suffering and profit from it.
