Basically what u/freedomlogic is saying. If the 1898 photo were taken closer to high tide and the 2017 photo were taken closer to low tide, and given that the tides vary by over a meter in that area, the rise in sea levels would be hidden in the comparison between these two photos.
To be fair, tides change every day.

Be careful not to fall into a pessimistic state of mind. Most of us could name something that is not deteriorating, like Jalapeno_gringo, but you say that everything is getting worse because everything feels worse, but that feeling originates from your own perception, which you have a lot of control over.
Doubtful, but even so, there’s absolutely nothing disrespectful or evil about censoring “God” out of respect. Monarchs aren’t referred to by their names in polite company, and the same can hold true for God.
