I should add, I wore my “Epstein Didn’t Kill Himself” shirt with the gas mask to offset any belief that it was for my own safety- thought of that too.

I evolved for the sake of sending a message. For months i went to the same grocery store bare faced- but unlike you I wasn’t an asshole about it. I’d smile and wave at the angry Karens instead of meeting their energy (and thus reinforcing their beliefs, which is at least as counterproductive as full compliance)— all it got was the occasional other guy to take his mask off too. Wasn’t enough for me.

Then I got the gas mask idea- radically complying with their own rules so hard that it makes them uncomfortable with enforcing them. Real social manipulation. I did that once, and I never had to do it again. You went in angry and affecting nothing. So yeah bud- I complied. I complied so hard they stopped enforcing compliance the same week after enforcing it for months. I won.

Edit: to add, since you want to make this a dick-swinging competition- wearing that mask caused WAY more social anxiety than going in bare faced. Being the only person in a store without a mask on was empowering (though sad)- it was never a problem for me. That mask was a chore- I got far more attention with it than ever being the only person bare faced. Forcing change takes more than mean-mugging Karen.

My method fucked with their heads- so much so said store dropped enforcement within days of me pulling that stunt- no enforcers the next time I went (I’m not taking credit, but the timing is strange and right in the middle of the edicts). Your method only made others dig their heels in deeper and reassured them that the “other side” was full of aggro assholes. I’ll swallow my pride if it gets results- have fun being right and losing the whole way down.

I find it interesting that you think it's more effective to get the government to do the job of protecting human health when it effectively operates as a monopoly (and a horrifically corrupt one at that) VS a model that would allow for greater free-market competition.

When whistleblowers like this come forward, it creates demand for change-- that demand gets met quickly without regulatory capture. However, since we live in a hell world ruled by Big Daddy Government who is beholden to the conglomerates that it's supposed to regulate, there will instead be some new nonsense "clean meat" label (a la "organic certified" or whatever-- which means nothing btw) to assuage the general population into believing another lie while continuing to poison themselves. Sure, small local farmers may adapt if they don't go out of business first, but only the most-attentive of the population will actually get to accessing their product. Additionally, these sorts of massive industry conglomerates that stomp all over everything we hold dear aren't even possible without government regulatory capture.
