I've read for someone who provides good proof that it goes back way even further. He speculates the crusades were actually pushed by Jews/crypto Jews and that the first crusader king of Jerusalem was a crypto Jew.

Not all the leadership in Hamas are working for the Jews, most low levels Hamas are probably naive and not working for the Jews also.
