"weird" how none of the news stories actually links to the text of the bill, i hate that

even the FL gov website press release doesn't

https://www.flgov.com/2024/03/25/governor-desantis-signs-legislation-to-protect-children-and-uphold-parental-rights/

finally found it

https://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2024/00003/

what is actually legislated is:

a commercial entity that publishes or distributes material harmful to minors on a website or application that contains a substantial portion of such material to perform reasonable age verification methods, prevent access to such material by minors ...

(d) "Material harmful to minors" means any material that:

  1. The average person applying contemporary community standards would find, taken as a whole, appeals to the prurient interest;
  2. Depicts or describes, in a patently offensive way, sexual conduct as specifically defined in s. 847.001(19); and.
  3. When taken as a whole, lacks serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value for minors.

entities must:

(a) Perform reasonable age verification methods to verify the age of a person attempting to access the material is 18 years of age or older and prevent access to the material by a person younger than 18 years of age. The reasonable age verification method must be conducted by an independent third -party not affiliated with the commercial entity.

IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SOCIAL MEDIA

There are 3 camera shots, the wide, the close up and a side shot (which goes from tripod on the right to handheld from the left)

8:02 Nancy's close up

8:19 The wide shot

8:24 Barry's close up (same camera as Nancy)

So in 5 seconds, in a live setting, they moved the close up camera from Nancy to Barry, and it had to move because of where the items in the background end up.

I've worked camera in live news, 5s is pretty quick and quite risky - they have to swap between Nancy's face height (she's 5'5") and Barrys (6'1").

Unless they have 4-5 cameras and that would be unusual, especially in a non-studio

The whole thing looks weird.

OK, I accept there might be more nuance

however

Most participants were male (55.2%), and White (79.4%)

The largest proportion of participants (18.5%) resided California.

Most respondents identified as Democrats (46.4%)

Thanks

Not one single British person would say "seems weird I have cancer, but at least Charles has it".

I swear people on here have never met real people.

He's being in character. It's from his TV Series

Believe Nothing

Mayall plays Professor Adonis Cnut, the cleverest man in Britain, and Oxford's leading moral philosopher. He is paid huge amounts of money for his views, consulted by the government, but he is bored and wants adventure, so he joins the shadowy organization The Council which controls everything going on in the world.

the bar is “minimally effective for ensuring competency” and “disproportionally and unnecessarily blocks marginalized groups from becoming practicing attorneys.”

Coming soon:

"we should abandon minimum standards for building codes because builders of color find them difficult to achieve"

The maximum range of Bluetooth beacons typically varies depending on the specific type and standards of the beacon in use. In general, most Bluetooth beacons can reliably transmit up to approximately 30 meters without any physical obstructions, with a typical operating range of around 2 to 5 meters, depending on the transmit power.

I guess if you're hiding in the cupboard it's a problem, and the searcher already knows your BT address.
