The most simplest explanation is likely the most plausible. They are doing it to combat global warming. There will be little very evidence our civilization existed by the time the next inter-glacial rolls around in around 90,000 some years. Most man made materials and molecules will have been broken down or buried deep in the earth by that point. The earth will be pristine again.
I remember when google maps was released for public use, somewhere around 2005. It definitely showed actual pictures of ice back then, and over the years it was becoming more noticeably cracked up and smaller.
Somewhere around 2010, maybe 2012 I remember going to look and they had completely removed the sat photos, presenting us with what we are seeing now.

Why cant you have it both ways? Im not a atheist, I like most people am agnostic. I know something is out there, and I have my opinions. But the bible is only a very small part of that. I dont believe it is meant to be taken literally, and it makes much more sense if you understand the religions that the bible copied their stories from. You can argue this is faith and I respect that.
But alot of these scientists who delve deep into the math of the universe, like at cern. They are not religious per say before they start, but I have seen some interviews where people talk about coming close to god.
It's easy for them to see that what we think we are, is not how it appears to actually be. Most of us agree, there is something guiding this reality, but do you really believe it is one powerful all mighty god?
I believe its something more likened to a collective pool of energy and that anything with enough connections will become aware of itself. Like carl sagan's popular quote. "We are a way for the universe to know itself.". I do believe that part of us exists in another dimension where time and space do not exist and this reality is something akin to a simulation where we are given a chance to be individuals who have emotion and are driven by physical needs. Why? God knows. Maybe we are in some quantum bubble in the atom of some bigger entity. Its entirely possible that we are in a quantum computer simulation, although that shouldnt really matter in the end anyway. We are aware, we hate, we love.
Its also entirely possible that god does exist and he sent his only son to redeem us, all so that we could love him. But it just doesnt make sense. Yes there are many truths in the bible and I believe some of these legends likely happened. (The great flood, the creation of mankind), but I think its been twisted and distorted over millennia by the church and kings to their own purpose.
Why do you think the church spent hundreds of years destroying anything or anyone that stood in their way. Do you think a true god would advocate for anything like that. And when this one ends, the next one will start again in another 80,000 or something like that.
Then there are things like, the reoccurring cataclysms that earth faces on a semi predictable basis. If they admitted that we were created by higher beings, then they would have to admit maybe the rest of these old legends are true as well. Wouldn't want to cause mass panic do we.
Look at groups like the knight templars -> free masons. Some of their highest guarded secrets are math and architectural knowledge. They believe by hoarding this knowledge that they can reap special benefits over the average person. Yeah, I would describe it more as a planet. Ive seen it 2 or 3 times in my life. They are a tad brighter than a star, but they definitely just look like a point of light up there. I grew up relatively near wright-pat so Ive seen some strange things, seen lots of jets, and other things that were likely man made.
But when I was a kid, I seen it happen 2 times I believe. At least once for sure. Looking at some glowing object and watching it go mach 20+ after being stationary for several minutes.
The last time I seen one was about 10 years ago on the east coast. Looking over the ocean I seen what I thought was a planet but I couldnt figure out which one. While sitting there and staring after what must have been a good 30 minutes. It zooms off across the horizon and phases out of the atmosphere in the blink of an eye. It wasnt no natural phenomena or man made craft. 30 years ago I didnt think it was humans flying it, and I still dont think it is today.
