I had some trauma related 'self discoveries' early on in my life that kind of pushed me in the 'spiritual' direction even tho it was more a feeling back then (if strong).
In nature there's no death how we intend it. No animal feels mortal. They are more 'afraid' to go against their instincts than dying. In a sense it goes against senses to believe in something real 'ending forever'. Thus the idea of reincarnation, the thought that if something can end, it doesn't belong in prime reality. Since we perceive ourselves as real, but we are conscious of animal death, we end up splitting our view of 'ourselves' from the animal we are in, which has to be correct imo as our natural instinct move us in this direction once consciousness of death is learned. I do not think this thought is born out of fear, but of pure intuition for the before mentioned reasons. Animals don't fear death and aren't stressed out when not in pain. Only when they stop having the strength to trust their gut.
The 'priest' part is necessary for a warrior. Death transcendence is something the animal kingdom knows well that the human needs to rationalize himself having lost that 'supernatural' feeling about life, he looks for a way in abstract to regain it.
Because he doesn't feel at home without it. Because it's not natural to believe in the end of the real and we perceive a reality within us but it's clearly not simply animal life.
This could be but i think very small chance and situational.
