I believe directed energy weapons exist and are used in California to set people's houses ablaze, but those towers were rigged with explosives. They came down in a perfect pattern of collapsing within their own footprint; exactly like buildings rigged for demolition do.

The dead giveaway is when the planes rotated 90 degrees to make a shark fin before entering the towers; those highjackers would have never been able to do that.
