The research does have potential to be scary I will give you that, but really, 600K is not much in the grand scope of things. Average cost of one drug's development to market is about a billion right now (and yes, I understand there's more steps and testing and such, but still).

The province I live in, in the past 50 years, has had 800 flu deaths as a peak in 1 year, usually 200 or so as an average. It's killed over 10,000 here now, with masks, social distancing, sanitization everywhere, lockdowns, vaccines and even a fucking curfew.
