Unfortunately you're not correct. The KJV is based on the Masoretic Text for the Old Testament, and not the Septuagint, which was written much earlier in 285 BC in Alexandria, Egypt. In fact most modern English Bibles, not only the KJV, are based on the Masoretic Text which dates back to 1009 AD. Not 2,000 years old.
It would be simplistic to claim that the Masoretic text corrupted Scripture in a malicious sense. Rather, the Masoretic tradition reflects the theological priorities of the Jewish communities between 6th and 10th century AD. However, Jesus Christ was not a priority for the Jewish scribes that created the Masoretic Text. Some would even say the opposite is true, considering the influence of Rabbi Akiva ben Joseph who is referred to in the Talmud as the “Chief of the Sages”, a well-known Jesus hater.
