The marble sculpture with the intricate net covering is mind blowing. One wrong hammer with that chisel and there goes the whole piece..
Laser tools may be one explanation. IMO there might be other possibilities. Like what if there was a non-human entity, capable to turning humans into marble. Greek mythology talks about turning humans into stone, and a good example of that is the gaze of Medusa, one of the Gorgons, whose gaze causes instant petrification.
I definitely believe those temples were carved with some form of laser or something other tech we dont know about. Hammer and chisels is definitely not the answer.
As for those statues I agree they must be petrified in some way, some have finger prints on them and there's one in India that was x-rayed and found to have a skeleton inside.
Agreed. Not made with a hammer and chisel.
A good example, Il Disinganno, also known as The Release from Deception, is an 18th-century marble sculpture by Francesco Queirolo, 1753–1759, Sansevero Chapel, Naples, Italy. The sculpture is renowned for its intricate marble net, and it's carved from a single block of marble.
Consider this, every strand of the net had to be freed from the surrounding marble without severing its connection to the block, the knots and crossings are all one continuous piece of stone. A single mischiseled strike could have shattered a section.
Or, what if they were mostly cast? Many Egyptian statues have wear that tracks better with poor cooling if stone and ceramic, than of carved stone. Many statues and structures don't get exposed to enough abrasion to ever really tell.
But, consider, if you were advanced, and either creates humans, or were using them for other ends, you probably had a history of your own civilization going through massive pollution phases. It would make sense to prefer spending large amounts of energy in structures that did not do any major environmental harm, even you had no special care for the people.
Many old temples, and their decorations, predates the civilizations we associate them with, too., just to complicate matters.
I think the roman temples with there massive columns could possibly be cast. They also used a bonding technique that can't be replaced today.
As for the Egyptian statues and obelisks they are pure granite cut from a single source. Its incredible and may have some kind of laser carving tech. As for how they erected them is anyone's guess.
Il Disinganno, also known as The Release from Deception, is an 18th-century marble sculpture by Francesco Queirolo, was created between 1753 and 1754. Definitely not hammer an chisel, one wrong hammer strike and the sculpture comes apart.
I'm curious according to you what type of tools would you need to build this using cast, marble, stone, etc?
