Problem is not in Nuclear power. Problem as always in greedy dumbfucks that want a lot for least possible money. You could easily build absolutely reliable and safe nuclear power source, but it will not be as effective in terms of money as usual ones.
Counterfeit rods at ZNPP are made using US parts in Sweden. The real source of fuel itself is unknown to me.
Really, it does not matter where you make that things, more important is how you prepare fuel in them. You have to make it exactly the same as fuel in original rods.
It's like with all that biodiesels and other stuff. It does not matter who and where make it, if it have parameters suitable for engine. Otherwise you are in trouble and could seriously damage an engine. It looks not very dangerous for diesel, but nuclear reactor is not the thing to experiment with.

AFAIK, they went bankrupt when their counterfeit rods in some Finnish power station began to behave weird and Finns kick them out. All their business of conterfeitng Russian rods was broken and only Ukraine continue to collaborate.
Asked classmate, newest counterfeit rods was made in Sweden around 2021 mostly from US parts. He didn't see any papers, so didn't know how that company named now.
AFAIK even in 2016 they have huge problems after initial attempts to counterfeit rods failed miserably. May be that is why they so desperately tried to counterfeit Russian rods and begin to sell them to Finland and other European countries ignoring any safety and all that stuff on Zaporozhye NPP. I don't know who bought that fuel assembly business now and how it named currently, but locals tell about "Westinghouse".

Everything that gained by technology developments is seized by taxes and fiat value games by those who don't have anything common with that developments. To not allow people to use the gifts of tech for rising living level or gaining more free time.
When you have multiple power plants and loads connected to single grid you have to balance total power production and consumption. If you are out of balance, f.e. plants produce more power than consumed you are in great trouble with barely predictable outcome. Also, large changes in load could destabilise grid too. So you need some centralised entity to watch after that balance and command plants to increase or decrease production. That entity named "grid operator". It's like air traffic control for electricity.
If a grid have bad balance, f.e. it's only citizens and power plants, then you have problems every evening and night, when all citizens turn on light at evening and turn off it going to sleep. You need to nearly stop power plants at night and run them in full power at evening. You could eaily fall to that thing even without any consumtion grow, f.e. if factories who are constant load are bankrupted or moved out from your area you stay with population who consume electricity in very ragged way.

- Opensource SDR receiver program - SDR# SDR++ GQRX or whatever for aiming antenna to satellite

It's a funny and lazy weekend project that definitely should be done with your son or daughter and as a result you will get a ground station that will receive something like a 2784x2784 pixels realtime pictures of whole Earth from geostationary orbit every 15-30 minutes as long as you wish without any NASA or anything between satellite and you.
If you want to go to higher resolution, it will be more complex, due to X-band transmission, but perfectly possible. In addition to above list you will need X-band irradiator with LNA and downconverter and larger, 1.5-2 meter dish. You will get something like 5000x5000 pixel images from same satellites.
But I can't find any real photos through normal means.
You could find a lot using something like "LRIT satellite image". Also, check ham forums in sections about receiving satellite images. You will find tons of them in visible and IR bands.
Why don't you want to receive images from weather satellites, where you easily find all necessary landmarks and even could go out and compare the shape of clouds you see above you with what satellite just transmit you? You could even receive images from different satellites, US, European, Russian, Chineese, from middle orbit ones to geostationary that shows you whole Earth and compare what you rjust eceived with what is in skies above you.
All you need - a cheap RTL-SDR dongle, antenna made from garbage lying around and a weekend to play with that stuff.
If you "want know the truth", why don't you do something to check everything and find a answer yourself? Why do you need somebody who will give you a picture that literally falling on you continously from satellites above?
Yes. To be efficient you need to squeeze maximum energy from minimum fuel. It is expensive. It's like modern car engines. They cost much more than old ones for the sake of 5% more efficiency.
Waste from nuclear power plants could be easily used to make RITEGs, each could provide a family with heat and electricity for century. You take a small piece of that waste, and pack into very thick lead and stainless steel onion shell. No any radiation, only heat you could use directly or convert to electricity using TEG elements. Free energy for century. But it doesn't fit into modern narrative.
It should not. We have to return all that carbon into Earth atmosphere to allow Earth become green again. :)
