Numbers on a computer is not the same as digital currency
Digital currency is traceable through its lifetime, can be revoked at any time, every transaction goes through the gatekeeper (e.g. govt.) and therefore approved / rejected - meaning the govt. could pricefix everything.

This is true. As I was oversimplifying how fiat is used and controls the populace, and using the term 'digital' at face value. But the person I was talking to, doesn't know the difference between BTC and CBDC. And I've spent years getting into the nuance with him, and getting nowhere.
Basically, cash is a tool of state and/or elites to make your work efforts alienable to the benefits of those who have nothing to do with your work efforts and manufacturers of things you want exchange your work efforts to.
I assume that current level of computer tech and connectivity is more than enough to create versatile and independent barter systems that will completely eliminate any need of any intermediate value containers or means of exchange like money in whole. It is so called "closing invention", that will make all current financial system void, obsolete and useless. That is why it will be never allowed while current elite have any power. And, meanwhile, that is why all enormous processing power and connectivity humanity have is drained into the sink of all that bloatware, games, entertainment, stock gampbling, crypto, surveillance and so on.
Learn to feed yourself, then you don't have to pay for food...then someone pays you for food in something you might need or want...like soap or anything else.
Get a little bit of gemstones of various types and sizes. A half dozen rubies, some diamonds. Maybe an aquamarine or two. A little bit of the whole rainbow.
When fiat collapses and we're back to barter, some dumb woman will believe any price you attach to that stone. It's a damn wild card.
cash, money, precious metals, and crypto coins are only worth what everyone else says they're worth. with inflation combined with cryptocurrency people have been waking up to the idea that the dollar is not set in stone, but our collective society still believe that is worth something.
the inherent value that fiat currency has over something like gold and silver is that it is very light and easy to transport, and can even be transported electronically. the simple feature means it's much more convenient to trade with than gold or silver, or even useful items like coal or food.
