This is just a wild guess, but taking a very high-level view, I think conditions in the world are changing significantly and this is being absorbed and affecting even the awake on a subconscious level.

Election rigging, the vaxx genocide, nuclear warmongering, global-scale grifts, etc, etc. There are not too many more steps of pretense left before They just come out and say, "Yeah that's right. The fuck you gonna do about it?"

I think that the sane and humane among us thought at some deep level that by doing whatever we were doing--which would include speaking out and sharing information in forums just like this--that we were going to help "talk our way out of this."

The phenomenon you sensed has been going on longer than two weeks, and it's been going on at r/conspiracy as well. You rarely see a post that has taken any effort to research.
