Because most people know that nearly every keystroke you have typed in the last 10+ years is stored somewhere in a file with your name on it.
If you actually tried to join the government, you would have to actually believe the bullshit they say.
You act like the fat purple haired dykes with 5 cats in the Human Resources offices are super genius spies that conduct hours of research into every applicant.
You'd be surprised how easy it is to get a cosmopolitan metrosexual look, waltz into a local city or county or state government interview and get hired.
Federal government FBI office is probably a tougher job to get and has strenuous background investigation. So your argument there perhaps holds merit.
