No need to be condescending..... Child sacrifice was fairly common with the Sumerians and Babylonians. As well as some other disgusting practices....not exactly shinning lights of virtue....I'm sure they were capable of lying just like our own historians....(how accurate have they been?). Some of what they wrote does line up with the Bible.....they use different names (well similar)....because that's how names translate sometimes.....You're free to believe what you want.....For me I would rather trust Jesus's version of history first and then see how much of their writings line up with the Truth. But that's all I have to say about this.....
You shouldn't read the bible like you would a billboard.......You'd be amazed by how even the chapters and verse numbers of the Bible have special meaning....not just the words.... even though they were added later on. In the old testament which was written in Hebrew.....each letter has a symbol, and a number and they have meaning too. In fact the first line of the bible establishes the end. You're not the only one with internet and a brain....and can read......lots of smarter people in the world than you or me, and they may be more studied up on the subject than you are. That's all I'm saying. But if you're emotionally attached to an idea.....even a bad idea then no amount of logic will convince you. Strong emotion overrules logic and they've become quite adept at invoking it. The emotion that TV or media or friends have invoked in you will overrule the logic. I don't blame anyone for believing this way, heck we've all been subjected to media's flashing lights, musical tones, and repeated phrases designed to brainwash us. Most people think those bad ideas are their own and then decide to model their life after it, often with dire outcomes. And even if we know we can still become victims of it. It's no coincidence that the divorce rate went up when TV was invented....
It's easy to get mixed up with all the fake news out there....even Pilate had a hard time with it when he asked Jesus "what is truth"....but for me it's enough to know that Jesus believed in it.....and because I believe in Jesus; I'm going to believe in whatever he believes in. Certainly nobody claims to be smarter than Jesus. When you decide to believe in Jesus this way it all comes into focus. You'll discover why people devote their lives to studying scripture....it's the pearl of great price....When you get time check out Jonathan Cahn or Trey Smith (God in a nutshell).....some of what they say will blow your mind.....especially Jonathan Cahn....
You probably don't know this but there are people who study every word, letter and historical account of everything written in the bible, the numbers, the translations from Hebrew or Greek, what each letter means, each symbol, each number, every verse. The more I study the bible the more I'm convinced it's true. Now I know the lies they tell (the establishment), some of it is nuanced.....and people hold on to the lies like a plank on a sinking ship....so probably I'll never convince you. But there's information out there if you change your mind....
I'm not trying to be rude....but false information will confuse people.....the Bible is truth.....and if the bible says 400 years....you can bet everything you have on it...it was 400 years....but realize 400 years is just a small chunk of the history of Egypt which goes on to this day......almost everything you think you know is false information.... most don't realize it and live their lives out by this false information.....in ways they don't understand....much to their own chagrin...but the bible is truth...and the truth of each story works on many different levels....it's foolish to dismiss it so easily.....
