i live in illinois. people all know about the violence in chicago. but it tends to stay there and does NOT go past niles. shit like this just doesnt happen in the suburbs and all. was quite a shock tbh. highland park is a very very safe and area with nice people. i go there all the time to chill out and drink some coffee. has that small town illinois feeling!

I have been telling my parents this for at least the last 10 years or so. things are WAAYYYY too quiet in the world for it to be stable. all throughout human history there were several large altercations or wars. we have been in the "quiet zone" since the end of ww2. there hasnt been a HUGE escalation since then . but there HAS been throughout history. we are now still in the age of the longest peaceful stretch that has ever existed.
