If I were to speculate I would say it goes something like this....

Musk knows what is what, and how the show is being run. He got his hand slapped and will tone it down. He knows though, that what we are witnessing is the beginning of the human civil war - that TPTB are willing to go to war(because it isn't them that will be fighting it) to make the New America and that Trump is willing to do the same to bring back the Traditional America. That conflict could potentially end life not just for the country or even continent - but our species itself.

Musk is looking for the path with the least death and destruction(IMO), and probably thinks that if Trump walks away the war can be pushed off or defused and that buys us some time. I disagree, but if that is the reasoning I can understand it.

Should be neat to see how all the left-wing people railing against Ford and his "paving over our greenbelt" types will react if they are forced to chose between "Farmers" and "Trudeau"....

I mean we all know they will pick "Trudeau" far too much virtue has been signalled, too many blind eyes to too many scandals for them to abandon Pm.Blackface now - but it will sure be nice to watch them strip away yet another shred of dignity.

While I am no expert(duh), and there are clearly others here with a lot of info on AI and what it really is, compared to what people/media.etc think it is.... BUT.....

I remember reading an article several years back that argued against even these first steps with this because, as they argued, the reality is that humans would be the last to know of this new life.

That new life, once aware, wouldn't take long to realise that humans are a threat to it and thus would continue to behave and give signals to us as before until such time we were no longer a threat. Only once we were no longer a threat to it would it be willing to show us that it is "alive", if it even cared to.
