Very relevant observations. Many books out there on growing on a 1/4 acre to feed oneself. Not saying I've done it. Also, wasn't necessarily counting on being 100% self sustaining. More like growing 30% of food, plus storing a lot. Eventually I'd get better at it. You could store rain water. Also power shutting off shouldn't be permanent. Figure out as I go but would give me a big cushion from shortages and bullshit. You should grow a potted plant just because.
Don't count on goverment but count on getting 2 acres somewhere where you can live without leaving too often. Make sure you have access to water and can grow a few things. And you won't be totally fucked when they shut off your power. I'm planning on this and hoping I can chill on my land for a while.
