My guess is tension between her and William. Possibly he was having an affair or beating her (hence the sudden hospital visit in December, when he might have gotten carried away). She wanted out, but the royal family didn't want a scandal. It looks like she's playing along for now but keeping a notable distance from William.
Apparently he drank heavily and was also big on the jab.

I'm a romance writer, and that's basically the whole industry right now. Frustrated super-woman looks powerful during the day but cries into her ice cream at night. Heroic Chad dude catches her attention... but pursuing him means letting go of what society has told her to pursue. Adventure ensues, worldviews are challenged, flirtiness happens, and boom!
My guess is that a lot of women are seeing through the programming but too insecure to chase it in real life.
Wouldn't it be easier for them to get those results just by sending in a bunch of immigrants?
