It's the exact same people who say "we're going to the superbowl this year." Politics have become a tribal team sport for them. So many of these folks have invested their lives into this identity of patriot or Trump supporter that they may actually feel a false sense of accomplishment when something like the Virginia "victory" happens. They just want to feel like they've won something. That's why everything becomes a battle and lacks nuance. There has to be clear opposition and they are their sworn enemies.
