It's the exact same people who say "we're going to the superbowl this year." Politics have become a tribal team sport for them. So many of these folks have invested their lives into this identity of patriot or Trump supporter that they may actually feel a false sense of accomplishment when something like the Virginia "victory" happens. They just want to feel like they've won something. That's why everything becomes a battle and lacks nuance. There has to be clear opposition and they are their sworn enemies. It's binary instead of nuanced. Which makes them easily distracted and easily manipulated. Takes all the focus off of where it should be and onto their neighbors.
