You are imagining the Sun as a spot light at a movie set, not as an isotropic source of light, while measurements indicate that it is an isotropic source. But how does this "bright spot" on a flat surface agree with the actual patterns of day and night experienced on Earth. Present the evidence.

If the Earth's surface were flat, then when the Sun is visible in the sky it will be visible from all points on the "flat" surface of the Earth. If it is daylight in USA it will be daylight in China. This is most certainly not the case. Say, you live in the Eastern states of USA, like I do. Just call your friends/relatives in Europe in the late afternoon and see if it is already night there. Instant communications defeat the flat Earth hypothesis.
The average density of the human body is slightly higher than that of water which is 1000 kg/m^3. Thus a 20 kg child would have a volume of about 0.02 m^3 and 600 children of similar size will take about 12 cubic meters of space, or something like 2 m x 2m x 3 m. That's a very large container, but not extraordinary large. Now one must factor in the air pockets between the bodies, which may be up to 20% of the space or more.
