When profit became a goal of human activity, things turn into complete shit quickly.
All that planned obsolence, processed food, single-use things, finacial services and all that stuff is a product of profit-driven economy and nothing else.
And it is only beginning. It's not hard to imagine how that will develop, and picture is disgusting.
Also, profit-driven economy is a power source for aristocracy/elites and inevitably lead to globalism.
In the not so distant past some enterprises/corporations still valued such thing as reputation, and kind of tried to not make shitty things for the sake of profit. However, with development of advertising into brainwashing, even those who careв about reputation completely turned to profits, and you will not find anyone who try to make nice, reliable, long-lasting things for customers.
It is not a technical problem to make a car that will last forever with rare cheap service today. It will not even be expensive. It will generate an excellent reputation, but not much profits. So, it is impossible today.
I don't see any clear solution to that shit, but profit-driven economy have to be exterminated to prevent disaster in the future.
Funny, but that globalists dream of social credit system could be kind of partial solution, if applied to businesses instead of people, by people. Things reliability, cost of ownership, lifetime and other parameters could be used to score corporations. Corporations with low score could be forced to pay compensation to customers, to effectively cut their profits and so force them to choose other goal, like reputation or whatever else.
All advertising, except neutral and real product parameters should be banned forever. Any attempt to use any subconscious methods in advertising shoud be punished as fraud, criminally with jailtime. Say, car manufacturers shouldn't show a car running through pleasant landscape with something like "this car wil make you look cool" voice in background. There should be mpg, hp, trunk volume, cost of year ownership in terms of service costs and spare parts and other really useful information.
Basically, modern advertising is a pure brainwashing today, thats side-effect of profit-driven economy. If you can brainwash people to buy shit, then there is no any need to make decent things at all.
Really this is a huge conspiracy, that combines nearly all shit we have in our clown world, from fiat money everybody run after as stupid sheep to the globalism and jews. And all that combines into one thing - profit-driven economy.
If we want to do something about any of conspiracies we talk about, then we have to start with profit-driven economy.
Yes, but it challenges the whole paradigm:
Accept that the purpose of life is not consuming and acquiring goods and that man is a spiritual and a moral being that transcends this world first and homo economicus material being in this world second. Such a society will be driven by economy of virtue and duty and not by economy of goods and services catering to our desires. Such a society actually exists and has always existed within the Christian Church but sadly we're a minority in our degenerate times.
Really it is not even about all that virtues. Even regular customer still trying to choose better thing even in exchange for higher price, if he is not severely limited by need and available finances.
And that customer available financed is constantly cut by the same profit-driven economy, because worker salaries are losses for business owner, and being profit-driven he try to cut them just like he trying to cut the spending on components and other stuff to maximize his profits.
Profit-driven economy devouring itself in a dangerous loop with positive feedback. Manufacturer produce shittier product, including using cheaper workforce or cutting salaries (directly or through inflation) or redicing workforce, workers being customers for other manufacturers look for lower prices and to keep profits they lower quality and workforce salaries even more, and so on.
This could easily run into death spiral, where poor people will produce and consume absolute shit, while elites will still get their profits. And even people virtues and consumerism denial will not be able to do anything with that.
Without destruction of that profit-drive that rule over economy, even good, God-following people, will not be able to compete or get rid of corporations that will suck them dry eventually. In the best case you could build something like Amish community, but that's not really human development, it is degradation or at least stagnation, with all my respect to Amishes.
What you describe was possible before the 20th century, that is before the advent of advertisement and mass social engineering. From Bernays onwards, a method of selling low quality goods that people don't really need was worked out. They saw they could create the product and then convince people it was valuable because in the NWO only individual human and societal perception defines what's valuable, as opposed to unchanging universal good (that's an entailment of the humanist worldview).
This is how we got to where are we today where consumers have been engineered to go after low quality products because they're easier to manufacture (this applies mostly to cultural products and not tech). There are other reasons behind promotion of degenerate culture of course but we're focused on the economical side.
The Amish are against technology and they are arbitrary stuck at a fixed time in the 19th century as if that reflects Christian historic tradition in some way. There is a way to foster technological progress in a Christian society and this has been the case with the longest surviving empire there was - the Byzantine empire, governed by the principle of symphonia. There is nothing wrong with technology or manufacturing of goods as long as the principles governing them are sound.
It's all about hierarchy - one can't serve to both Mammon and God. Today's society is governed by greed and Mammon and the only thing it develops towards is its own demise and degradation. Technological development and consumption cannot be an end in itself. It's always governed by an underlying moral principle and conviction. Technology is supposed to serve man and not enslave him or prevent him communion with God - this is true progress.
Exactly. And it is not clear how could we get rid of that shit now.
Yep. That's not the solution.
Exactly. But most technology, and especially means of production of tech now in the hands of coproeconomists. To create Amish-like community but with acceptance of technological progress, we will have to create nearly all industries almost from the ground. I think it is possible, but it will be extremely hard, and then community have to somehow defend it from profit-driven sharks, especially if it will become more succesfull than coproeconomy.
I believe this is the crux of the problem - the change has to come from a paradigm shift in society which will inevitably model the system according to its views and not the other way around. This is the only way to achieve systematic change.
TPTB have already employed this method but in the opposite direction - they degraded society and they have alienated and debased the individual to make them easier to control. They appealed to our base instincts and desires (our fallen and sinful nature) to achieve it because they know people are vulnerable to such seduction especially if they are not grounded in tradition and common moral principles expressing objective truth.
To counter this, everyone should adhere to a common moral code based on duties and hold other members of the community accountable. This is not possible outside of a common meta-narrative that only a religion or an ideology can provide. "The liberal individualistic capitalist democratic consumer society" meta-narrative of the West is collapsing under the weight of it's entailments - pluralism, relativism, lack of cohesion, nihilism, depravity, corruption, consolidation of power, rise of monopoly and oligarchy. The void will be filled by something. TPTB have been preparing for this for at least a 100 years. This is what the Great Reset is truly about - it's not just about economics and technology. They don't shy from sharing their plans in their writings.
I don't see how to kickstart that paradigm shift in society. There needed either some transcedental thing, like people suddenly become wiser, either massive state propaganda, either "social score"-like system for manufacturers backed with taxes and tariffs. None look realistic, honestly.
I think the plan has stages and we're going through one right now. The first stage was to prepare the masses through indoctrination and to uproot them from their ancestor's traditions, beliefs and cultural heritage. This was achieved mostly through technology, free-trade, consoomerism, mind-altering drugs, mind control and the advent of social engineering.
In 2020 humanity was deemed ready for the next stage where the world is held hostage to a perpetual state of crisis, there are shortages and chaos in society and people are more susceptible to accept change through fear and brute force.
The last stage will probably be a major disaster that will overshadow anything before it (like WWIII) and will fully reset the paradigm wiping out all the history before it - basically how Brave New World came to be in Huxley's non-fictional novel.
Great post CrazyRussian.
Our society is planned with a Fibonacci sequence. In order for us to progress the previous products must be consumed. Just like the Fibonacci sequence, our society only grows or advances by consuming it's products that make it up. Fibonacci is not phi, and although comes close to that ratio is a completely different mathematical concept. Like rabbits reproducing without predators to keep them in check.
I have realized this along time ago when I tried to preserve and share free energy patents. It has nothing to do with human invention but changing the mindset of human greed. Human greed runs this planet and it is heavily promoted as the "successful" avenue for human existence. One for you two for me attitude.
It's a pyramid scheme on the grandest scale. We are tricked into slavery to become subscribers to life itself. In order to live comfortably many services require a monthly subscription to keep us working and therefore enslaved. Want to drive a car? You need monthly gas, car insurance payments. Want heat? Electricity, Gas and fuel are required. Want to communicate on this forum? A cellphone with data or network connection is required. Want a shelter? Well that will be taxed as well. Want to eat food? Well that costs money as well. One could argue that installing solar, using a well for water, hunting and growing your own food cuts a lot of these costs out, however there is still property tax, and one still must pay for internet access.
Planned obsolescence is a major contribution to ensure a prompt deterioration of goods and mechanical devices. How is it that the first light bulb is still illuminating, yet regular light bulbs have X amount of hours?
I 100% agree that there should be checks, balances and audits in place to ensure products like cars last a certain number of years. Gone are the days of appliances being handed down to the next generation. Truly, we are in an age of greed, and the general population prefers the cheap convenience, over pricier harder to source products. Temu is a great example of this. Temu is comparable to dollar store quality products. Amazon, since opening up it's website to individual retailers has also succumbed to the cheaper product push. People want inexpensive / convenient items. This is the very mechanism of life itself being hijacked as life always wants to do something with the least amount of energy spent to achieve it.
If money is energy, than by our very nature we will always work less to earn more. As that is natural law. You can lead moose and deer to a dead fall trap by laying branches of trees to guide them because they travel the easiest path which consumes the least amount of energy.
Humans will always want to work less while making the same income or making more. Similarly, that's why fast food can be addictive because the body is getting complex fats, sugars and proteins without the energy of butchering an animal, preparing the food, cooking the food and doing clean up.
tl;dr
Human Greed is a promoted and encouraged mindset that will be our own undoing.
Thank you for yout reply, I really appreciate it.
Honestly I think that energy could be perfect money. Unlike gold, or other surrogates, it could be directly used by owner for any necessary purpose.
However, to make energy a currency, we need much better (in terms energy density) energy storage than that modern shitty batteries or fuels.
After all, you could measure any goods with amount of energy needed to produce them. And it will be inflation free, sound currency.
I began to thought about energy as a perfect currency, as means of exchange long ago, but it will need huge scientific breakthroughs in the areas that ostracised by official science.
a) The natural order implies the process which produces (living) through consumption (dying).
b) Previous (inception towards death) consumes following (life).
Ones (singular) consent to suggested pluralism (we) implies that subscription aka self imposed slavery.
Living implies being set apart from one another...not joined together.
Comfort implies "strength together"...natural order sets life apart from one another, which implies that ones builds strength by needing to resist the wanted temptation of joining together.
What's the first thing a rich person does? Separating self from the poor... "rules for thee but not for me"
Balance (inception/death) generates choice (life)..."You better check yourself before you wreck yourself"
All is one in energy aka "one for all and all for one"...money tempts one to hold onto value, while ignoring that energy energizes being within motion, hence value (all perceivable) generating evaluation (ones perception).
Value isn't the issue...misusing ones free will of choice to hold onto any suggested value tempts one to ignore self, hence diminishing ones evaluation of all moving value.
Natural law WAS before one came into being within...suggesting to each other what it IS tempts one to ignore that.
If all implies one in energy, then there cannot be more or less than energy. Energy setting itself apart internally from whole (action) into partials (reaction) implies a setting FREE.
Others suggest a conflict of reason (more vs less) to tempt ones FREE will of choice to earn/urn a living by selling out, while buying into it.
One doesn't need to buy (consent) what another sells (suggestion)...one is tempted to want (more) or not want it (less), while choosing either establishes the conflict against the opposite.
Aka wanting more (suggested) than already offered (perceivable). Nobody within nature can offer more than nature already offers, yet anyone can choose to take each others offers, which ignores natural for artificial.
Do you trust government? What you're proposing is to transition power from the free-market to government to reign in the free market and end the 'profit-driven' economy. This is quite foolish and will create even more disparity and havoc.
The 'profit-driven' economy you're referencing is really a particular flavor of 'profit-driven', you're perceiving 'profit-driven' from the 21st-century (Jewish) controlled banking, political, media and arguably corporate control via (Jewish) Blackrock and (Jewish) Vanguard thus your view of 'profit-driven' is heavily distorted.
This is equivalent to sitting in a burning forest fire asking if the problem with the world is 'fire'. No; the problem is that 'fire' has gotten out of control under specific circumstances just as the 'profit-driven' economy has gotten out of control under very specific (Jewish) influence.
The cure for all this? Religion and homogeneous states that share common values and philosophies. When you have a society/economy that shares nothing in common then 'profit-driven' will run amok with no counter force.
No.
There is no any free-market in the world. Market is severely regulated by tandem of governements and corporations. You could easily check this in nearby grocery just looking on any product where you will find a lot of mandatory markings and data. Same thing is in any other area, from home appliances to cars. Rare things are not regulated by governement, really.
And even with all that regulations profit-driven coproeconomy thrive and destroy any remnants of nice things on the market.
Free-market in profit-driven economy (and society that measure success in money) will end with absolute coproeconomy disaster even faster.
If you have free-market, there is no any, even tiny limits where businessman obsessed with profit will stop. And he will have advantage over other, non so profit-driven businesses because he will have maximum profits and so more money to buy, destroy, cheat over competitors. There are no any limiters for such behaviour in utopic free-market.
Free-market could have some sense only if you remove modern concept of money/currency from equation. Only then, it could be really free, from the specific properties of money/currency that destroys this infantile dream of free-market. Money can't be good/bad f.e. So, in free market with money, one who will have more money, will always prevail. As soon as you began to speak about ethics and virtues, you inevitably come to some sort of external regulation of your free market. Unless you get rid of neutral money/currency concept.
So you need a government (or other third-party with same purpose) that will overlook over this state market, ban those who do not share common values from market, check philosophies of market participants and so on.
You just can't rely on the assumption that all market participants will be honest and will never lie. If everybody in community are honest and good people, there are abviously no need for any market at all, be it free or controlled. Such community will easily exist with pure barter. If you think that such communities does not exist, you are mistaken. They are. One of examples of such community where is no any need for any market is a traditional family. And it is working, effective and successfull community. Unfortunately, it does not scale well.
You've got it backwards. Humans are innately driben to seek profit and our systems of government exist to make the best use of that drive.
If you can incentivise maintaining a good reputation, efficiency, craftsmanship, and companies as long term communities, you can have those things. Our current system does not because, while companies usually start this way if they're successful, they'll inebitably be bought out by (((capitalists))) who have no idea how anything works but still consider themselves the boss because money.
That's why I always try to work for small business, even though they pay lousy and expect a lot compared to big organisations.
People driven to seek the best for them. And best is not always profit. Normally human being will buy better quality thing, even if it cost more than bad quality thing.
Government allowed corporations to influence people's understanding of "the best" so, that they will buy anything corporations made. Even complete shit if been told that it is "better" for them.
Look at modern marketing, it's absolutely clear that it is pure manipulation. Ads and packages created to make people forget about real properties of the goods, that matter and look at things that don't have any sense for making reasonable decision. At the same time manufacturers care only about profits, not about quality, usefulness and other important stuff.
If you take any literature about marketing and read it without any bias, as side observer, you will see that it is all about manipulating people's understanding of "good".
One of such manipulations is to force customer to think that personal profit is at the top of things that make customer "good". To save 10% from the price is better than lose 20% of reliability or quality.
Exactly. And this big bosses will always have money and tools to buy or destroy ones that stand for "good reputation". It is the point of their survival. If there is nothing to compare with profit-driven corporation products, then there is no choice for the customer, and corporations will sell as shitty products as possible.
Take a look at Phoebus conspiracy, that still exist today with LED bulbs. You can't buy LED lamp that last nearly forever (at least to the point of phosphor/diode natural degradation). But it is very simple to make one. You could even make one from shitty LED bulb by yourself, if you are into electronics and could hold a soldering iron in your hand, by replacing a current setting resistor. Buy LED bulb twice brighter than you need, then lower LEDs current by sqrt(2). You will get bulb of necessary brightness with LEDs running at lower current and so they will last much longer.
Obviously, people, even brainwashed will prefer normal LED bulbs, even if they will have higher price. Becaule it is their good - to have reliable bulb that will never need to be replaced. It is a profit-driven system that doesn't allow to produce eternal LED bulbs.
Unfortunately, not all things we need today could be manufactured by small businesses. And this things eventually drag down even small businesses. If a small business that use some machine produced by big corporation have to spend money for constant service and repair, than that costs have to be included in the final price, or profits should be cut to the unsustainable level. Both will put that good small business in unfair conditions.
Just recall that JohnDeer tractors or modern baking ovens. Manufacturer make shitty stuff and force customer to pay constantly for the things that could be made reliable and easily serviceable by customer without any additional payments by customer. But they don't and it is purely intended.
Profit is required to keep existing. Hunting food returns the profit of meat; if you didn't profit by hunting, you wouldn't hunt. The same is true of any organisation.
Government has no responsibility to manage people's understanding, it's the other way around. If corpos can influence people, they can influence the government as well. This is on us.
If the government is responsible for anything, it's putting kids into schools that teach them to believe whatever they're told by an authority figure. But I'd blame the churches before I blamed governments for allowing manipulation.
It's not about "big bosses" it's about outside (((capitalists))). I'll work for a company with 1,000 employees if it's privately owned by the person who started it. The problem isn't size, it's structure. When you have a public company, it's run by people who don't know or care to know anything about the company other than that it makes them money, which they use to buy the next company.
The reason that this always looks the same, for the past 70 years, is because it's the same people every single time. All companies use the same "marketing" strategies, even when they fall flat, because they're being told to by the exact same (((shareholders))). The last place I worked used word of mouth and reputation and doubled in size while I was working there. Then it got sold to someone who didn't understand the business and now it's floundering.
You have to constantly pay for maintenance of equipment no matter what, either to the original manufacturer, a service tech, or your own time.
The one thing I'll say the government could do (and already should have done) is vigorously uphold property rights, especially regarding so-called "intellectual property". If I buy something, it's mine. I should have every right to fix it, reverse engineer it, even publish technical documents to sell to others, like Haynes manuals.
But, again, this comes down to personal psychology; people don't want to fix their own stuff, they want someone else to do it, preferrably for free, and they don't care if that means they'll get screwed down the line. No amount of government will fix that.
Like it or not, our system is sustainable. It will keep going for a long time, albeit with much less prosperity. Government could prevent or disincentivise capital investment but that would mean building companies would take much longer and still ultimately result in less material wealth that we have now.
The reason it looks like everything is collapsing is because we've been in a bubble for at least 50 years. It's going to stabilize, but if we ever see prospertiy like that again, it'll be the precursor to another crash.
Today's "profit" is only money. You will not be able to explain any investor or businessman the original meaning.
Good decision. I'll add to that "no loans" condition. But it become extremely hard to find such configuration.
Exactly. This comes to the single pattern, so it is perfectly valid to suppose conspiracy.
That means that previous owner either prefer money, either was put in situation without much choice. This always happen with more or less successful, let's name it "traditional" company, owned by old-style enterpreneur who have something more than profits behind.
First, many things today just poorly engineered, in most cases intentionally, to need service. Second, even most good old things could be fixed forever, just by making more durable part. Industrial equipment could be fixed by local service team, every more or less decent manufacturing have a service team regardless. And in most cases service team is not very busy, especially if business have sane administration. But vendors do not allow that, sometimes right in the equipment delivery contract. They want their profits.
Governement usually in charge of education. If children was not teached that everything could be disassembled and assembled back, and so repaired, will never think about fixing anything by themselves. So they will not be able to fight for right for repair or against "intellectual property" scam you mentioned earlier.
That's what I'm in doubt with. "planned obsolescence" become widespread not long ago, but we already eat consequences with a table spoon.
Coproeconomy will eventually turn everything into the shit. Very profitable, but absolutely unreliable and in case of food directly harmful.
When you fall to the bottom, it is not stabilisation, it is living on the bottom.
And again, I think that profit-driven coproeconomy will eventually destroy everything, including means of production. If your machine will be in service constantly, it will not be able to produce even shit you producing to make profits. Means of production already infected heavily, and things only become worse with time. F.e. some small measurement and control equipment manufacturers are bought by holdings that don't care about reliability, precision and other important stuff. And if you can't measure your process with same precision, you just unable to produce same quality stuff you produced earlier. Many times I met with situaltion, when some expensive old, but excellent measuring equipment had to be repleced just because old computer that run equipment software lecensed only to this exact computer hardware, (cpuid, f.e. hdd serial number and so on) just broke due to its age. And when business asked for a new license for new computer, measurement equipment manufacturer just told that this model is not supported anymore, so no new key will be provided, just buy new, worse and more expensive model.
Behavioral science has the answer. It's utilizes incentive based work. (Profit sharing, ceo pay caps, limits to shareholder profit taking, bans on short trading, etc).
They don't want everyone well off.
The system relies on usury and being a parasite of our work.
So you want the government to have total control of the economy and hope that they will act in the interest of the public?
That has worked out so well in the past whenever it was tried, right?
Government already have total control of the economy. Also government should act in the interest of the people. It is government force food manufacturers at least print ingridients on the packing.
If government exist, why shouldn't it work in the interests of the people?
If something didn't work for you as you expected, there is a possibility you used it wrong.
On the other hand - what's your proposal? How to stop manufacturing and selling shit in modern profit-driven coproeconomy?
What mechanism could force manufacturers prefer reputation or quality over profits?
Chesterton thought so... region locked capitalism!
Chesterton's localism does exist as local farmers and bakers f.e. But we need big companies to make things like cars or planes or even microwave owens and computers.
And even farmers and bakers need industry to do their job. And when industry make shitty tractors and owens that have to be replaced or serviced often, farmers and bakers have to find this additional money somewhere. This way big companies force small businesses into profit-driven economy.
Get rid of the stock market.
Stock market is just a part of the problem.
Small company could for some time work for reputation. But as soon as it gain reputation and grow, here comes crowd of managers who care only about profits. In almost all literature about management, the efficiency of management accounted in profits. Even if owner still truly care about reputation, managers will do shit, like, say, manger ordered to find best deal for some component, will find cheapest component, because he sincerely believe he saving a tons of money for company, will get bonus for that, and he know nothing about real tech and why quality or reputation is important.
There is no any educational institutions for managers that are not fully in profit-driven economy swamp.
Also, even if company somehow value reputation, it would not be able to compete with other companies who care only about profits. They will fill the market with cheaper products with ads indoctrinating customers that they are best and coolest.
You get exactly what you Pay for....
If you know it has ""Planned Obsolescence"" or ""Residual Income"" built into it, then it becomes Your Responsibility to fin it and correct it....
All of this started after the Korean War and was already in full swing before Vietnam, and has gone all the way to the point where even People are ""Disposable""....
I really don't see any possible way to ""fix"" this problem, but maybe, IF we can undo the myriad of all these ""Regulations"", maybe we can improve the problem a little bit....
Either way, when we buy Junk, an it breaks, an we then replace it multiple times with more Junk, that's the Company that makes Money, whereas, if we buy a thing of Good Quality, an don't have to replace it for many years, then that Company is who we should verbally Promote, so it keeps making Goo Quality Products....
Just seems rather obvious to me....
Not really, and that's the problem. Many ready to pay decent price for decent thing, but there are just no such decent things on the market.
How to protect that Company making Good Quality Products from those who make or resell shit and from regulations of the government that support this coproeconomics?
They shouldn't have made shit out of Plastic to increase their ""Residual Income"", they probably knew it would come back and bite them on the Bank Accounts later, but still did....
I don't mind replacing Lights, Oil, Grease, Coolants, Wiper Fluid, an other parts that wear out Naturally....
But a piece that should be made of Aluminum, made of Plastic, where I have to pull off the Steering Wheel, Blinker Assem., and then deconstruct the Guts, that's Intentional Mischief....
Sounds Marxist. There is nothing immoral or wrong about a fair profit on a product.
Advertising that doesn't lie should be allowed. What if I develop a new product that I want to tell the world about? My new product does X and makes Y easier. I should have the right to earn a fair profit by letting people know about it, as long as the ad does not lie that it solves erectile dysfunction, or male pattern baldness, when it doesn't. This will be far, far easier to parse than the intent of showing a car I made with good brakes zooming through a winding road as somehow subliminal messaging.
All advertising to children should be prohibited though. Their minds are still forming.
What could be Marxist in putting quality and reliability over profit? Profit is not moral or immoral by itself. Immoral and evil is to put profit over everything else, including moral and other stuff.
There is no problem in making most things lasting forever today. We walk a long way since Marx times. His shit is irrelevant now. Well, if this is Marxist, then I'll prefer to be named Marxist, than to support coproeconomy.
Of course it should. With important and meaningful information about a product. Not with feelings and subliminal stuff. But I'm afraid there is no any person in the world left who could even think about making such advertising.
Yes.
Unfortunately the science of making good and honest ads is already lost.
We have it prohibited in Russia, but that does not make other advertising any better. And many people have a mind of infant even being in their mid age.
Where we agree: Ads directed towards children in America are only somewhat banned, for certain products. It should be across the board, Russia has it right on this.
Where we disagree: quality and reliability are things you must be willing to pay for. I want a backyard grill, for instance, but I don't cook out much. I could get a quality one that will cost a lot, or since I grill 2-3 times a year, it's my money, and I chose to purchase an inferior grill.
The real issue here is either planned obsolescence (which deserves prison imo), or the flooding of cheap products by countries with low labor prices in order to ruin a market (I'm talking to you China shills) in which case tarriffs are the answer and fuck the peasants in the hinterlands of China (electronics), or Vietnam (clothing) or Pakistan (cotton products) etc. etc.
This is excellent example of how this works, really. Stainless steel, good, austenite one, like AISI304 cost around 3 times more than raw cheap steel as rolled metal. So, if your grill weight 10kg, than cost of material for your grill would be $10 for raw steel and $30 for stainless steel. But stainless steel don't have to be painted, which is human labour, so difference is even smaller, say $10. Even if you use your grill twice a year, will you really prefer to save $10 rather than have a grill that will never rust through?
But usually grills (if you mean classic western BBQ charcoal grill) cost usually much more than price of steel - from around $100 (I just take a look at Wallmart prices).
And here comes advertising. If grill is made from stainless steel, than its price immidiately jumps to the moon. I didn't find any in Wallmart, but google show some with prices from $500.
Interesting, isn't it? Material costs rised from $10 to $30, but price rised from $100 to $500. With exactly same amount of labour to cut and weld grill from a list of metal. And stainless one don't need to be painted, so it require even less labour to make. This additional $390 difference, that goes to somebody's pocket comes from making normal things a hard-to-find luxury.
This cheap products ruin local manufacturing. And the thing is that Chineese perfectly able to make good quality stuff, but Western mangers just don't order it.
I'd prefer to get a cheap grill and put it in the garage after I use it, and through the long winters. They last damn near ten years or more.
Your point is well made, but I'd rather give people the freedom to choose the Chevy or the Cadillac, with the caveat that we don't allow dumping of cheap offshored crap.
What OP seeks could be far easier done by laws removing the installment plan, or capping usurious credit card interest at 10%, which will result in lower credit limits. Maybe making bankruptcy easier.
That means that the average person isn't going to buy shit they can't afford because they get suckered into it.
Then this average persons will look for cheapest possible shit making things worse and profiting those who are ready to sell complete garbage - corporations.
This all shit with profit-driven coproeconomy is looped round and round on itself. Owner wants profit, cutting salaries and bying shittiest components, so workforce have no money to buy normal stuff, so they constantly buy shit, eventually loosing more money than they would have been spent on normal stuff, Those who make normal stuff can't sell it, so they also join corporation workforce in search for cheap shit, when there is no any normal things on the market, corporations rise their prices for even worse shit and so on...
If this cycle as you describe were inevitable, then there would be no quality items in production anywhere, which is not the case.
It is gradual process. There are much less and much harder to find things that have good quality.
Driven implies by origin; profit implies towards outcome...few tempt many to ignore perceivable origin (reality) for suggested outcome (fiction).
Civilization implies the domestication of will, which will needs to resist to sustain itself.
Knowledge implies each ones perception within all perceivable...WE implies many consenting to suggested pluralism by few, hence permitting domestication of will.
a) IF implies THEN aka implication based on motion...using ones free will of choice to hold onto a suggestion tempts one to ignore that.
b) Motion works linear, hence generating momentum (inception towards death) for matter (life). If matter ignores motion by holding onto a suggestion, then matter works circular (logic). That's why you ask for a work-AROUND.
c) Ones perception adapting to all perceivable implies alternation...many consenting to suggestions by few implies acceleration, hence chasing towards outcomes aka seeking profits.
a) Coming into being implies out of origin...suggested "became" inverts that.
b) Having free will of choice implies ones RE-action...not activity, but reactivity.
Using the word "all" to describe obsolescence (no longer used) tempts one (temporal being) to ignore being (life) used (inception towards death) within all (ongoing generation).
In other words...if one counts things together as "all", then one permits other ones to define how much or how less "all" is. That's how ones mind can be tricked to believe in planned obsolescence.
Being implies within (life) procession (inception towards death)..."unprocessed" anything implies a suggested fiction tempting one to ignore perceivable reality.
a) Things (plural) contradicts single (singular).
b) Being implies each one (singular) within all (singularity)...other ones suggest pluralism to tempt many together aka e pluribus unum (out of many; one)... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E_pluribus_unum
Annuit cœptis (he approves the undertaking) implies many taking from under few, when consenting to a suggestion.
Few suggest -isms to tempt many to follow the lead.
Advert aka turning (vert) towards (ad)...reality directs from origin towards outcome, fiction tempts one to turn from perceivable origin towards suggested outcome.
Being doesn't last long, because origin consumes (inception towards death) being (life).
Few suggest materialism to tempt many to hold onto products, while ignoring to be produced by nature. Holding onto distracts from being within process.
Being implies put (life) forwards (inception towards death)...suggested artifice tempts one to ignore that.
Solution (inception towards death) generates problems (life).
Free WILL of choice cannot last...it's a temporal reaction within an ever forwarding action.
Will implies FREE will of choice. One has to be free to expand within all...others trick ones free will of choice to make expansion expensive aka paying a chosen one to grow ones choice freely.
Solution (all perceivable) generates sight (ones perception)...any suggestion by another tempts one to ignore that. For example...suggested nihil-ism (Latin nihilo, nothing), hence saying "don't" tempts one to de-nial perceivable solution.
Letting go of ones belief in "doing nothing" (don't) clears up ones sight within everything.
Forever implies "ever forwards" aka motion. How could motion be banned if it ever moves forwards?
Ban/bha - "to speak"... https://www.etymonline.com/word/ban#etymonline_v_248 Speaking (suggested words) bans one from hearing (perceivable sound).
Nature doesn't speak..it moves sound. Few within nature suggest languages to many aka spell-craft as to make noise to distract from the "sound of silence".

We are in the AI era now. Making capitalism work correctly by regulating it with AI will allow profits with morality. We are going into a star Trek reality. The consciousness of the average person will be on spiritual development not shafting his fellow man. It's difficult to imagine, because things have been so crimminally driven for so long. But, the transision to a higher consciousness is happening right now. When it's over you won't recognize the place. Things will be so different.
