when I was in high school, our admins failed to renew their office license and instead installed OpenOffice on the school computers. that was the event that made me realize there is no reason to have Microsoft office at all, all the way back in the early 2010s.
I use LibreOffice for everything now. It works, it does everything I need it to do, and it lets me type whatever the fuck I want.
I used to work in I.T. at our local school district. I tried pushing Libre all the time rather than spending the money for 365. Every faculty has a subscription for 365 AND GSuite (google's 365). Just pissing away money.
Today I discovered that Word now automatically checks your writings for inclusiveness, and whether they have biases for such things as racism, use of bad words, criticism of LGBTQ, and much more. WTF.
29 years ago --- I discovered Linux.
The people doing this own all of the open source movements. They were already there when the warnings were first issued. They kicked the opposition off of the boards and spent the programming budgets on paying themselves to be social justice consultants.
They tried that with gnome2 --- The project just forked to MATE'
OpenOffice forked to LibreOffice
Debian even has some kernel forks (ports) BSD, Hurd with Mach microkernel
If you don't like a movement ---- create your own

There is only one true Linux distro. That is Debian and Slackware!
Debian had amazing package management back in 1995.
Ian Murdock did not kill himself.
Funny how Microsoft is using his work now.
Yes ---- survival of the fittest.
This site is probably on Linux.
heh. Well of course people with any common sense use Linux. I use Open Office for my own projects, but these days my clients all use Windows 10 and Office 365 and its ghastly Microsoft cloud technologies.
Govt sensitivity training is point and laugh material.
That's weird. Woke to the max. I wonder who thinks of these things. I know who implements them, the ones getting paid to do so.
Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, OpenWRT, NextCloud, LibreOffice, Navidrome, Jellyfin, PiHole, IPFS....get off that spyware and use something free and open source. FOSS FTW
openOffice --- libreOffice

bullshit. I use LibreOffice in corporate setting all the time. they don't care how the document was made, they just care that it's a PDF that they can forward to their superiors.
That's "telemetry" ;
"We study the usage patterns of our products to develop new and improved features."
"It looks like you're writing a confession of your counter-revolutionary activities and crimes against the state. Would you like help?"
- Write the confession for you
- Write the confession for you

I got tired of paying for new versions of microsoft office years ago.....Switched to open office....it still works but it was bought out by IBM i think and they tanked it. I got office libre if I need it.....At this point.....typing is typing.....we should have that handled by now.....
Libra office is the best for a while. People just stopped working on it.
The political correctness stuff shows up under the (new?) Editor icon on the rightward part of the ribbon in Word 365. It just started showing up this week. Find and click Editor then look for the grammar controls.
try under Editor Score
Very interesting - in my client's Word / Office 365 these were all default checked, I wonder whether corporate versions of Word 365 are set for that, you know, corporate DEI.
Bias operating system. It is A.I behind its queers. Trans wouldn't exist without A.I
That's fucked!
A real man has as many underlined words in his documents as is physically possible.
