Now, with Russia unable (not just unwilling) to provide Europe with fuel, Russia has lost its bargaining chip and the US has ensured that EU/NATO will remain its puppet.
Oh, and the US admitted to doing it months ago. So we know exactly what happened and why.

However, I am convinced it does not matter who did it one bit, what matters is that it is done.
This means that neither party will leverage the accomplishment meaningfully one way or the other. Suggesting Russia will not use it to retaliate against nato, zog/nato will not be able to effectively use it against Russia.
