Google it. Most peeps here probably already heard of it, that's why I did not write 10 paragraphs on it.
Too many people are getting wise to the censorship. It could be that Musk is getting positioned as a white knight and better option. Of course there will still be subtle censorship and a lot of spin but he'll be held up as the good guy and people will trust him because he will look good compared to the really bad alternatives. That will put him in a good position to push the transhumanist agenda.
NOw is also a good time for him to start going against the very far rabid left which is getting more and more extreme, has started turning on itself and is getting less popular by the day as most people want to get to a more normal mask free life. Musk is likely trying to win approval from the moderates and the right, especially the distrustful right was always the tough nut to crack.
The tech loving humanity hating far far left is going to jump on the transhumanist wagon even if they hate Musk so he does not really need to court them. But the right has a lot of shotguns and a lot of distrust for govt, authority and new fangled weird tech stuff so they are the ones that Musk needs to win over. I'd also keep a sharp eye on how De Santis positions himself on transhumanism. I'd like to trust that guy but you really can't afford to trust anyone these days. Always be vigilant and think for yourself.
It depends on your world view. People are generally raised with the concept that staying alive is the most important thing to do. However if you believe the after life is nicer than here, then dying early could simply be a situation of getting relieved of duty early and going to a better place. If death is actually just a rebirth a nicer existence, would you still think the same way about death?
This is totally unrealistic. The tv news would never allow such truthful coverage LOL! But on a more serious note, we may already have something like this brewing via the Havana syndrome, and the microwave attacks on protestors.
Russia may only really want the more ethnic Russian areas, the rest of the Ukraine would not welcome him and would be a financial strain, he may see no benefit to staying there. I would not be surprised if his main goals were always to stomp out a bunch of the Ukrainian militia that have been bombing Donbas for 8 years, which required going past the Donbas border to get at them. I think also he wanted to restore water flow to Crimea, which has now been done. Long term, it think he will withdraw out of any territories that are unfriendly to Russia and try to keep all the ones that are like Donbas and Crimea and possibly a few other mostly ethnic Russian areas on the east. It's likely now that Ukraine will be even more antirussian than ever so those areas would have a harder time of it if they stayed with Ukraine too. I don't think Eastern Ukraine and Western has any real hope of getting along with each other at this point. I don't see any other way than for Ukraine to let some eastern areas leave.
Typically there are two reasons for politicians to do something, the stated reason and the real reason. I suggest taking the stated reason with some large grains of salt.
What we had was really REALLY good fencing in heavily traveled areas and progressively weaker fencing out in the boondocks. The main reason is that if it takes 2 hours of driving over rough terrain to get around a fence, mostly they would just skip that and bring some ladders and climbing equipment for the existing fence near the road. It only takes a few minutes to climb a fence, no reason to drive 4 hours to go around, and gas is expensive! There is a point where the hassle factor of reaching an area is more of a deterrent than a fence. Also we had other means of watching travel in the boondocks and all fencing still has to be backed up by border patrol feet on the ground since all fences are climbable. Fencing also requires constant maintenance and there is a point where the cost of trying to maintain fencing out in the boondocks where immigrants almost never travel when the area is already been monitored anyway and there is already border patrol in the area, becomes just not worth it, because fencing is not a magic fixall. That is why we never had fencing all the way across the border, the value was not worth the cost. It's the same reason we don't try to fence the ocean. The money spent would be more effectively used in other areas.
But Trump made a big show of pretending there was not already 700 miles of fencing and bragging about building a 'wall'. It was a political ploy the whole time. Then the Dems pretended that there was not already 700 miles of fencing and said that fences were bad, which is equally stupid. The fact is that upgrading fencing out in the middle of fucking nowhere where no one ever goes was never going to do much. The majority of immigrants come in through the asylum system or with tourist visas and then overstay them. And the drug runners can easily afford equipment to remove or get over or under fencing. Sometimes they also just catapult bundles over the fence to be picked up by someone else on the other side. THe biggest prob they have is the border patrol, not a fence.
I wonder if this is a cover story to hide gas attacks by Ukraine.
Yesterday they were saying it wasn't terrorism because there is no evidence it was political and that political violence is an attempt to threaten the govt directly and hence is terrorism. So I guess they had to pivot fast to something else today!
Well they probably have referring to Ukraine having been bombing donbas for 8 years now.
Is it even real? Since when can anything blasted down from a far overhead noise source be that clear and easily understood?
One thing good you can say about Trump, he generates way more punchlines per week than most people do in a year.
This is actually a savvy dodge of responsibility. If the tide turns on trust of the vaccine, he can blame the decision on the CDC. If the tide stays positive he can reap kudos for making the 'right' decision to trust the CDC. The fact that he said it this way though makes it look like he is worried about the former happening.
Sounds like Mariupol is suffering from a lack of corpses which is messing up their narrative.
Thanx for the info, yes that is damning, and all he complains about is Russian mines being left behind, nothing about corpses. First reports of dead peeps on the road i can find is from April 1. Anyway it's tricky, it's a war, you expect to find corpses in a war, that's why wars suck. Ukrainians could have repositioned them for effect or just tied their hands after the fact or they could have been casualties of war because wars are horrible. We are also hearing reports of Ukrainian soldiers attacking Russian speaking Ukrainians. The worst kinds of behaviors and people often come out during war time.
LOL, there was already 700 miles of fencing before Trump took office, I live near the border, I saw it decades ago. In fact there was a big stink about Homeland Security bulldozing vast areas to flatten it and put up improved fencing long ago as well, I was here when that happened. Trump only managed to build 40 miles of new wall. More wall actually went up under Obama than Trump. Trump is trying to take credit for upgrades to existing fencing but we have been building new fencing and doing upgrades for decades now. Bush and Obama get the credit for most wall built by far.
What I have heard is guests have to pay to get on that show now. They sold out.
She sounds youngish, maybe she naively thought at the time that the BLM stuff would actually make a difference in a good way and is just now starting to see it's not that simple..
Wading through the soup of bs is difficult..
See that's exactly, if they are not applying for unemployment either, where are these people who used to do work?
Except it's every job market that can't find employees. I've talked to high end WFH programming people etc as well and even they can't find workers. Everyone thinks the workers are taking some other kind of job but no jobs are getting filled.
Or you could just work now and then quit if the rules become unfavorable.
"I've heard that charcoal is really hard on your teeth, so I decided not to try it" That seems to be some counter advertising done by the regular toothpaste makers, the abrasiveness of charcoal is actually less than the abrasiveness of ordinary toothpaste.
Semantics, it's less to type than 'look it up on a search engine,' but obviously I don't mean that is the only or even best search engine option.
