I've directly studied this as well as consciousness. There's a number of subtle mind hacks that don't rise to the full level of hypnosis but that can alter your behavior. Priming for instance. A lot of this takes advantage of limitations in our information processing centers and overloads sensory perception so as to limit cognitive interpretation. Subliminal is one way to do this. Supraliminal is also actually one too (picture LRAD tech). AMA if you're interested- also note comment below.
Yeah the hypnotizable aspect is interesting. I tried being hypnotized one and nothing happened. I never "went under" but what's wild is others among me did and that was utterly shocking to me. Perhaps that's part of why I'm in this forum today. I suspect most here are not susceptible (though some clearly are lol)
Well it would have been way higher if it wasn't for the widespread drought. Soy yields in particular are increasingly quite quickly because of improved genetics. But soy and corn don't really feed people. Wheat and rice do and those are more important to watch for famine concerns. The rice crop in India is below export levels which means Africa will likely struggle with food security.
They are dominating at the undergraduate level (80/20) but not at the graduate level (67/33). Whereas the 80/20 at undergrad is likely due to self selection (ie they are more interested in STEM), this can't explain the change in ratio for grad school and thus this must be because of biased selection.

Maths:
(.33/.667)/(.2/.8)=2
Anything with white dye in it probably also does. Frostings for instance
