I've found a biblical answer to this issue. For reason of argument, let us stipulate that Jews are God's covenanted people. Let us also stipulate that God is in control and has allowed the Jews to go into slavery for lengthy periods of time when they have been in a sinful condition as well as being conquered in battle. God has also given them great victories when they put their trust in him and repent from evil.
That said, who are we to determine what God has planned for them? If we help Israel when God is punishing them, we are fighting against God. At the same time, if God wants to give a great victory to Israel, God certainly doesn't need our help.
Therefore, we should get out of God's way and let his will be done.

Israel may very well be destroyed this time around, or the second coming of the Messiah may come from all this. The problem for Israel is that the second coming of Christ, he will bring a flaming sword and judgement will come to the earth. I don't think they are going to like that very much, but I'm fine with what will be. Just watch the show and know that God is in control.
