Also, unrelated but interesting:
The RNC has publicly committed to boycotting the Presidential commission on debates. This happens months ago and was the first clear sign that Trump was running.
It also revealed that Trump expected the debate commission to use the January 6th committee as an excuse to bar him from all a presidential debates (using the same logic Twitter used: his speech will cause more violence).
You simply don’t make these kind of behind the scenes moves against your political opponent if he’s on the same team, and functioning as controlled opposition.
Also consider the FBI raid.
You don’t take those kind of actions against someone unless they’re a genuine threat.
