Yup. Japan's constitution states the military is for defense only. It doesnt permit using it outside Japan. Abe spent a lot of time trying to change that so Japan could get involved with international conflicts.
Im actually a little surprised of the reaction to what i thought was an obvious question...i don't normally get that type of responde/reaction but it does happen. Ive come to assume that when this happens, im dealing with a propoganda operation.

Id argue that it got so deep because its a liquid and so it seept downward...combine that with the movement of mountains, the weight of ice sheets...the weight of entire oceans pushing downward toward the crust.....it seems possible.
