Kennedy was talking to the press corp about communism. He didn't want them to report him as soft, so he made it seem like he was being a tough guy. He literally goes on to say that the press and military need to coordinate more.
He calls for self-censorship of the media when it comes to military stories that could give the enemy an advantage. He explicitly identifies that enemy as communism.
The quote is real but does not mean what you think it does.
Someone here posted that the speech is only in pieces here or there. You can easily find the entire speech and listen to it, if you look for it.
This isn't some mystery. Just listen to the whole speech and stop spreading misinformation.
That doesn't mean there isn't a global conspiracy--but this quote is NOT talking about that.

If you listen to the whole speech you'll realize he's talking about communism to the press corp, and wants them to percieve him as being "tough" on the threat. He was sensitive to their criticism and was addressing it with this "tough" speech given directly to the press.
He goes on at length about how the press and military need to coordinate more on sensitive stories where the press has a legal right to report, but should maybe self-censor for the benefit of the nation.
This was during the cold war. He was talking about the threat of communism, ie, the soviet union.
It has nothing to do with illuminati, which is how many people, including myself at one point, interpret it.
That doesn't mean there isn't a global conspiracy though. This quote just doesn't mean what people want it to mean.
