I don't need to explain that to demonstate that flu cases are not determined through definitive diagnosis because flu is not a notifiable disease.

Thus the methods used in this process were disrupted by whatever Covid was.

CDC uses a mathematical model to estimate the numbers of influenza illnesses, medical visits, hospitalizations, and deaths in the United States

https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/how-cdc-estimates.htm

Influenza-like illness (ILI) is the main indicator used for surveillance of respiratory viruses but RCGP weekly returns service also provide rates for other illnesses such as acute bronchitis, which can be an indicator of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) circulation and pneumonia.

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/sources-of-uk-flu-data-influenza-surveillance-in-the-uk

The national influenza surveillance in New Zealand aims at monitoring incidence and distribution of influenza in the community, early detection of influenza epidemics and identifying the predominant circulating strains. The surveillance system includes sentinel general practice (GP) surveillance, laboratory‐based surveillance, hospitalisations and mortality surveillance, and immunisation coverage surveillance.

One of the many incredible things for me was the introduction of the phrase "social distancing".

I challenged a few people who pushed it on me with "how is that different from 'distancing'?" and recieved blank stares.

I'm sat in the office with a plastic sheet between myself and my neighbour that extended as far as my shoulder and if we spoke would sit back so it wasn't between us. Just like the other 500 people in the office.

Meanwhile, the owner had a £50,000 office built in his garden using company funds so he could work from home.

The govt. changed the law specifically to close our stores. We had somehow pursuaded them fitted kitchens we were an essential business and our main competitor's DIY stores were not but the competitor successfully lobbied against us.

Utterly farcical.

Cash is already unusual here in the UK, contactless debit cards were first, then phone based payment. Cashiers are mildly surprised if you pull out actual notes.

So no, there will be hardly any resistance except for weirdos like us.

The UK is not a member of the EU. That was pretty big news, surprised you missed it.

UN has been pro Palestine for decades, if it wasn't for the US veto, this would have happened long ago.

  • On November 13, 1974, Yasser Arafat became the first representative of an entity other than a member state to address the General Assembly. In 1975, the PLO was granted permanent observer status at the General Assembly.

  • In 1982, the phrase "Occupied Palestinian Territories" became the name used in UN documents

  • In February 2011, the United States vetoed a draft resolution, supported by all other Security Council members and co-sponsored by over 120 nations, to condemn all Jewish settlements established in the occupied Palestinian territory since 1967 as illegal.

2020 UN panel votes 163-5 in support of Palestinian statehood, end of occupation
