According to standard views, there would have been no life on land at this time, and only simple forms of marine life in the earth’s oceans.

There was a affidavit made in 1927 by Philip Stepanov in which he details the circumstances of how he came to have the protocols and make copies of it and circulate them, before Nilius published them some years later:

The origin of the original Russian copy put forth in the books I linked is that in 1884, the daughter of a Russian general, Justine Glinka, was living in Paris. She was there to obtain secret political information that might be communicated back to Russia. She employed a Jewish assistant, Joseph Schorst, a member of the Mizraim Lodge in Paris. Schorst offered to obtain for her a document of great importance to Russia, on payment of 2,500 francs. That document was a copy of the protocols, which she had translated and sent to Russia.

The Bolton pdf is a reproduction of a longer text done by his associate Peter Myers.
They make a convincing case that the Protocols were indeed taken ,without permission, from a Masonic archive in Paris. Actually they were taken - translated to Russian, and then replaced, if I remember correctly - from a Mizraim Lodge - Mizraim being old Hebrew for Egypt.

We must therefore assume that Mrs Fry’s assertions regarding Joly, Masonry and Cremieux are correct."
