Now that is a gross overgeneralization. The majority of MDs are definitely not scientists. Some are, sure, but the majority are not. Being an MD doesn't prevent you from being a scientist, but it sure doesn't make you one. Modern education, practice, culture, and regulation on the other hand does a lot to discourage and prevent it.
