No, because you can still buy and sell and participate in the marketplace. The end of the world 666 (which has a dual meaning of Nero) means without it you can't purchase anything.
I used to think this way as well, but what if it's not a simultaneous action? The text shows a chain of actions, it doesn't show it as a single action, so it may be that the mark is first, and the later restriction of purchase is enforced. Unless I am missing another quote from the Bible, which you're referencing.
There was already a light scenario where people were restricted, if they weren't vaccinated for covid, from stores, airports, restaurants, etc. The digital currency is already tested in some places via a palm-reader. Now, a palm-reader wouldn't be as accurate to detect every unique pattern in the hand, so one can assume there might be a chip that's actually detected. And graphene is collected in the hands, as people have discovered with UV light.
Also, I don't know why you bring up Nero, he's obviously not the beast, and Nero doesn't add to 666, it's actually Neron Kaisar, the Hebrew name of the ruler + Cesar (as the title). Anyway, I follow your logic still - without the mark you won't be able to purchase anything in the future, when this is enforced.
I hope you see my point about the lack of evidence in the scripture to note a simultaneous action. You might doubt this, but I would prefer to be wrong about the mark, however, so far I haven't encountered a good argument against it.
