If you want to 'get along' with a lot of people you have to capitulate to all of them, or at least pretend to agree with them to gain their acceptance. You have to, in a word, be fake.
If you have an opinion not formed by majority opinion in any group of people or situation and express it you will become the target of the aforementioned fake people. Why?
There is an old saying that goes something like this- every clique needs 3 main elements. A leader (someone that beats the drum for people to march to), a treasurer (someone that supplies resources of some sort), and a person or group of people that are under no circumstances allowed to join in.
This is because cliques of this nature are not based on inclusivity but exclusivity. The uniting factor is the 'others' that are never allowed to join in because fake people more than anything need someone to ridicule and exclude in order to have a uniting factor among the clique members.
Loners are people who refuse to sacrifice their integrity for popularity. Having morality does not make you a popular person. It makes you the odd man out subject to the petty faggotry of the majority of people that lack integrity. There is an old MLK speech on this where he keeps using the word 'maladjusted', I think it's his best.
I am social......but I do not bend to what others think. Nor think of me. I am my own man. Like me or not....I dont give a flying fuck. So much so that I will show up to any event and have a good time with anyone. Being unapologetically me. I do not hide who I am nor my views. Because I am not a beta cuck. Who has to "fit in"
I think there's an age where there's a line in the sand about that. Because I'm like you, but I got an entirely different education than what is available these days.

Distinction should be made between Lonely and Loner.
Loners and lonely are two different ideas. Loners prefer solitude and the lonely miss the accompaniment of others.
You can be lonely in rooms full of people. Even lonely in a relationship.
