Suddenly, the news is replete with stories about people stealing through self-checkout (mostly in context of walmart). Not sure what's going on here but if I get a call about an item I "stole" 3 months ago, I'm never shopping there again. (www.the-sun.com)

When do we start killing these people.
Idk about you but I know plenty of whites who’ve done a lil razzle dazzle at the self checkout. I am not proud to admit it but I have as well.
It’s funny if you chart wage theft with retail theft, Walmart and these big storesare stealing over double what they’re getting robbed.
To be clear I don’t think stealing is good for anyone regardless of how shitty they might be.
They'll prop up anything if it means reeeing about muh whites. Even reddit NPCs know how evil that place is lol. That's a low bar to miss.
People were stealing long before self checkout lmao
I am not sure what the news is trying to do here. But I have "the sun", the "guardian", "breitbart" I believe and "Nypost" and others that also do celeb / pop type stories talking about people 'accidentally stealing' or pretending to accidentally steal
Listen, retailers. If you didn't want people to Screw up occasionally and accidentally not scan something, then you should not have installed self-checkout
Self-checkout is about TRUST. Trusting your customers and NOT assuming BAD INTENTIONS of them.
If you have a customer who has a 96-99% accuracy rate, you would do well to leave them the fort alone. Because the moment you complain or come to them accusatorily over a "theft", they are going to be SO ANGRY that they will not go back to your store and they will NOT use your self - checkout again.
SO then as this continues, fewer and fewer people will use self-checkout
Congrats. You changed your ENTIRE WORKING PROCEDURES only to alienate your customers fundamenally. Now they will buy less from you. And they will go back to JAMMING UP YOUR NON SELF LANES again,
forcing you to have to pay for more employees (again)....
the whole point of self checkout was to replace four to six employees with ONE employee (the self-checkout "overwatch")
My suggestion to retailers is Get a Better Overwatch. Or shut the fuck up and deal with self-checkout being a loss-prevention difficulty you'll just have to overcome
In just the last month
Self checkouts increase theft by about 10% of retail sales, when I studied it in 2015.
The world has changed dramatically since that year. Kinda surprising to hear how low it was.
I probably steal $100+ of food from the grocery store every single time I shop. Never been a problem.
I used to love catching shoplifters.
Nice job, narc.
I ran grocery stores in the 80 , 90s. We were instructed to use any force necessary. To the floor with your ass happened daily.
Am I supposed to be impressed? Congratulations on protecting the assets of a corporation.
You seriously suck at this job. Go back to trying to scam old people and rage at kitboga.
A guy who believes in QAnon is trying to talk to me. I don't know what kitboga is. Go back to the Great Awakening.
