There is a dedicated community on this website for Flat Earth [FE] stuff:
https://scored.co/c/flatearthresearch/new
There is no need for FE here on conspiracies IMO. If people want to explore FE they can easily seek it there or elsewhere on the internet.
My position: FE doesn't belong here. I believe the proponents of FE are ruining any chance this forum has to gain a larger following. They are time wasters and trolls who reject logical and reasonable rebuttable of their assertions. If someone disproves their idea they say it's lies and fakery without justification or evidence. If it's tiresome for me it must be annoying for others too, and perhaps it is dissuading lurkers from taking the leap and interacting here. No one should have to spend time wading through FE madness if they didn't seek it out.
My position wont change through argument. That's not what this post is about. I want to know:
Do individual, regular users on Conspiracies support banning FE posts and "discussion" from this forum?
If this motion of mine passes, the FE users would be allowed to stay, but submissions they make claiming the Earth is flat would be removed and result in a 3 day ban.
Comments arguing for FE would be removed too, if they are reported or I see them.
A note on the side bar would be added, making it clear that FE is banned here, and a link to the scored/communities FE community provided.
I think that's fair.
Since voting is easily manipulated, the way we'll decide is this:
Reply below, a top level comment, with either a YAY or NAY
YAY= I want FE banned
NAY= I want FE allowed
1 vote per user
Caveats:
-
Any top level comment without a clear YAY or NAY at the beginning of the comment will be removed.
-
YAYS or NAYS as a reply to a top level comment will not count and will be removed.
-
Provide justification, opinions or suggestions about all this along with your vote, if you like, but place it on a separate line below your YAY or NAY.
-
Replying to users is fine too, as long as you yourself have also made a top level comment with a yay or nay.
-
If a top level comment is edited, the edit history will be checked and the comment may not count or may be removed.
-
We have about 100 regular users/contributors, my estimate, so I hope everyone replies with a YAY or NAY. We'll give it plenty of time to ensure everyone sees this post.
-
Upvotes or Downvotes on comments or on this post will be completely ignored
We're counting YAYs or NAYs from individual users only.
-
Top level comments without a clear YAY or NAY will be removed.
-
Duplicate YAYs or NAYS will be removed.
-
Handshake account YAYs or NAYs are welcome, but they will be scrutinized and possibly ignored if they seem like sock-puppets, regardless of how they are voting. This is to ensure the minimum of vote manipulation.
-
Older accounts with little to no history - or where their last comment was several months or years ago - will also be scrutinized and may not count.
I reserve the right to edit this post based on interactions and suggestions below. I may not have thought of everything. Edits will be labelled and placed at the end of this text.
EDIT
Vote over
Minus sock-puppet accounts it's 61 Nay, 44 Yay.
Most of the nays are casual, non-contributing users banging on about censorship and free speech who don't give a damn about quality content nor FE. I encourage those users to engage with FE instead of ignoring it. If you did that you would probably come to regret voting to allow it in this forum.
Nay.
I don’t support any topic being banned from here.
What about Spam? Pornography? Cons?
Flat earth is spam.
You have a con to sell?
This is a conspiracy forum.
So perhaps ban anything that is not related to conspiracies, or anything that is illegal, like inciting violence or creating weapons, dear god like codys lab's video about making a few bullets out of his urine. I remember when you could find plenty of youtube videos about making your pipe guns years ago, but those days are long gone.
Should flat earth threads be banned? If we ban the threads, do we ban the comments? If we ban the comments, should we start banning anything that we dont agree with?
If they start getting spammed, merge them or delete them, warn/ban the user, whatever.
But if people want to discuss what they think, I think thats fine.
Ive said some stupid shit before and its only after saying it have I realized I was wrong. Weird how that works.
Sometimes its not a instantaneous thing either, the brain is a weird thing and it takes time to process stuff.
I find the only true flat earthers are the ones who believe in the modern bible literally, who literally are living on faith.
I think in situations like that, if they are happy with their lives, they should be let be. No need to rip them for having the courage to have a different take on reality.
Like ive said many times before, im actually quite jealous of religious people. I tend to believe the more older, "pagan" ones are closer to the truth though.
atheism is anti science religious fundamentalism
All sounds fine. Why can't they have that Convo on c/ FlatEarthResearch
It was started by a guy who seems sincere.
More like a narcissism/Dunning Kruger combo. I'll make no assumptions about their intellect other than the fact that they ain't astronauts. Or pilots. Or mathematicians. Or physicists.
OK they're janitors, so what.
My iq is 137. I've done the research to find out the Earth is not a spinning ball flying through space.
FEers never seem to realize they are wrong. Many times they are actively lying in the things they say, in the arguments they provide to "prove" the earth is flat. Maybe for some it is blind faith, but for the hard core ones who create the fake proofs, they must know they are lying because they actively misrepresent things to fit their flat earth assertion - they adjust distances and elevation numbers to fit, they use the incorrect equations, misquote historical things , assert a thing should be like a certain way without giving a reason why - it happens all the time. It's a psyop being pushed with malicious intent. There are those pushing it, and those that have been taken in by the pushers.
This topic gets amazing engagement which handled properly could grow the community. Are you honestly saying the topics of spam, pornography, etc. should be banned? Or, is it low quality instances of these topics? Obviously, it's the latter.
The solution is more high quality moderation, not shooting the community in the foot with misused banning powers.
Counterpoint: this .win gets some very interesting topics. When I used to try to engage here it was difficult to scroll through all the FE posts, and in a convo decidedly NOT about FE, somebody would always have to try to bring it up.
Amazing yes, but amazingly stupid. I rarely look here since.
Completely understandble. That user should have been restrained, not all users.
I concur.
There is simply no such thing as a high-quality FE post, even from the stand point of defending it as a topic. FE posts are by definition made in complete ignorance and are of extremely low quality. This post, my motion to ban FE, is probably the highest quality FE as a topic discussion post that there has been on this forum.
In a struggle between honesty and dishonesty, the only way to win for the honest is to stay honest against the struggle; the only way to win for the dishonest is to claim victory.
If the yays have it, expect congratulations on your victory.
The people telling you not to ban it are either useful idiots or shills.
Please remove this guy from a mod position
FE posting is like a user coming here to make posts asserting that transwomen are women. If someone came here and constantly made such posts, was abusive to all who argued against their false assertions, inserted the trans agenda into every other topic, called all respondents liars and claimed victory in every argument despite how much they get owned - the reports would be fast and furious. Everyone would demand that the ridiculous troll with the trans agenda be banned. Every single user here arguing about free speech would demand that troll be banned. No-one would defend their free speech.
Hi, I blew the Whistle on Google. Google is already using the CIA flat-earth psyop as justification to shut down YouTube content.
They are going to come after conspiracies.win sooner or later for this same reason. It's time to kick off the flat-earth agents spamming this site. We need to discuss real conspiracy theories without seeing CIA psyop flat earth spam.
No matter how many times you disprove the flat-earth psyop the intel agents will continue to push it.
So knowing the playbook, I vote yay to ban this content.
We need a forum to talk about real conspiracies, not a CIA bullshit psyop that the globalists will use to shut this place down.
Yea ok.
Youtube has scrubbed some weird ass shit.
The "satanic bloodlines origin video" being one of them. Totally obliterated.
But you can find about 100,000 flat earth videos :|. I dont think its going anywhere.
-edit- Managed to find one copy on youtube of the video I am thinking of, there used to be tons of copies though.

This right here
If true, the CIA (or whatever three letter agency) will just target a new topic, yeah?
Why put locks on your doors if robbers will just try to break the windows anyway? You are the most inorganic commenter I have ever seen.
Ever?
Idk if I believe that you are the whistleblower…
But I think everything you’re saying is common sense.
It’s obviously a psyop aimed at somehow hurting this site or preventing effective discourse about relevant political topics.
Anons have been strategically targeted. People here are in many ways digital refugees and anyone with even a decent memory realizes the influx of FE content is not natural or organic.
They are targeting the few platforms that allow for open political discourse.
Not banning this shit would be an epic mistake.
I swear this account sounds suspiciously similar to the mod lmao
You are part of the pedo fed psy op. You are working for them for free.
Wait, you mod-removed your own post? Or is the auto-filter being really aggressive? This happened to the other post to which I replied earlier, too. I didn’t think it warranted removal (unless it was only because it was a top level comment that wasn’t a vote).
yes, top level comment with no yay or nay are being removed. if they edit it to insert the word like I ask I'm reapproving.
