I inadvertently did this to a family member when trying to explain to them the moonlanding is fake. The first time I told them it was fake and gave some reasons why, they said they thought it was a 50/50 shot it was fake. The next time I talked to them about it, they had subconsciously realized the tremendous implications on their view of reality if the moonlanding is fake, so they decided to reject it. They now claim to be 100% sure the moonlanding is real.
