the whole fucking internet is a spy op psy op honey pot.

IT WAS DESIGNED THAT WAY. (in the 1950s, see the Macy Conferences 1946-52)

SuicideTruthbomber 2 points ago +3 / -1

I don't know about the Macy Conferences.

Mad scientists decided the brain is digital and not analog, and computers could be used to steer society. Cyber means steer in the Greek.

I still believe bitcoin was created by the CIA to get people familiar and more accepting of the Fed Digital coin.

ghost_of_aswartz 3 points ago +4 / -1

The CIA isn't smart enough to come up with it. My money is on someone at the NSA or at goldman sachs fin-tech dept with crytpo experience. At one point I thought it was Bruce Schneier but he thinks crypto is a joke and scoffs at it and explains why it's a joke. It's a good read.

They have access to the cheapest power and fastest computers to mine cheaper than anyone. Also they can track everything.

AlFreeman 2 points ago +2 / -0

I seriously doubt that. Nothing threatens their power more than losing control of the currency. If the Feds wanted people to accept a fed coin, they just need to mandate it. It's not like they need our consent.

megalithicallstar 4 points ago +4 / -0

out of no where it gained popularity and is all the rave. It provides another way out of the fiat dollar. How it was started is a grey area and I think people are being deeply fooled at the crypto cloud money being valuable. It's valuable until it's not. That doesn't at all seem suspicious to you? Within the last 20 years it appeared.....got popular....and people can't make sense of it...yet they still jump in NOT understanding it (other than decentralization). It's not backed by anything at all. It's purely speculative.

Dspsblyuth 3 points ago +3 / -0

How do you know they don’t control it? Because they tell you it’s secure through blockchain? How many people even understand what that means?

Dspsblyuth 2 points ago +2 / -0

You would have to be crazy to trust that stuff

You can use end-to-end encryption.

SuicideTruthbomber -4 points ago +1 / -5

That kind of proof cannot exist. It is on you to show how that is so.

There is the issue of encrypted material being potentially decipherable in the future. Use modern algorithms with very long keys.

it's automatic for protonmail to protonmail customers

the-new-style 3 points ago +4 / -1

If you're not accessing Proton Mail over Tor, then you're not a very good criminal.

That said "we kill people based on meta-data" is an official US strategy as per the NSA's Michael Hayden

The old trick of both logging into the same Proton Mail account via Tor is still probably a good counter measure.

As with all comms, the person you are talking to is the weak link.

VA-Pede 1 point ago +1 / -0

It's not that hard to roll your own email server with a cheap .com, a static IP, and an old computer. The hard part is getting other services to accept residential IP email.

ghost_of_aswartz 1 point ago +2 / -1

I use proton. I've had this debate back and forth and looked at both sides of it. I can tell you this, their customer service is excellent and they have fielded my concerns from posts such as this with speed and fulsome responses that have allayed my fears.

And I don't do crime

I think the key thing is don't do crime

ghost_of_aswartz 0 points ago +1 / -1

I'd be glad to find their response to one particular cust service request and it was astonishingly long (fulsome) and satisfactory--and repost it here. I was incredibly impressed. If they are up to something bad, we'll never know about it, unfortunately.

I assume EVERYTHING is a honey pot. Including protonmail, and including and especially this website

Dspsblyuth 1 point ago +1 / -0

I got an email from proton mail just a couple of days ago saying I had an unread message

I’ve never signed up for protonmail

How quaint. "good guys will keep tracking" Duh, ya think the "good guys" don't already know who is doing what for ISIS/MS13/BLM/Pantifa? Criminal Minions of the satanist pedovore blackmail cabal are protected. The get off for rape, torture and murder. Ordinary tax slaves get cut no slack.
