Why I stopped listening to music?
posted 3 years ago by the4thhorseman 3 years ago by the4thhorseman +16 / -3

It drowns our your internal monolog, and replaces with someone else's

It replaces Ponderance with axiomatic statements

It's dull and formulaic,

Plus who owns all the record companies? That in itself is reason enough

Then perhaps you can finally create true art because right now it's just an industry with vile intent

Only the classical composers were good

My best friend is a musician and I implore him to do this and to writing stop tunes for commercials

But music is like an air drop or NFC for human emotion , and I avoid emotion as it clouds one's judgement and disconnects you from true reality

I agree with your sentiments, but do expose myself to the brainwashing on occasion. So I'm not really a purist. I just spend 98% of my time with ambient sound as my 'music', as that is the real.

When I do sample popular reality in a 'musical' sense, I like to get a very strong hit.

Only listen to metal, less of a problem, a lot of it is fight songs and similar topics of defiance....

I used to think this but the problem is we need to be well rounded in our selves the noise prevents the water of inner lakes from ever becoming clear, metal left me stuck in gear as a rebel, which is good but I also need to be half a Saint, and a full man , brother, provider, planner, protector, giver and more

Pardon me ,brother just, sharing my new insights with the one people who would understand

Gojira is a pretty positive metal band. Top of their class too.

Lot of hopeful and positive stuff in metal, subject wise metal is probably the most balanced music genre there is when it comes to lyrics as it basically has it all, granted you won't find a band that has it all but 'popular' music is a hell of a lot more one track than anything else.

The thing about music is that if you have no imagination to apply to the lyrics to make them your own with your interpretation of their meaning being the basis for your relationship to any given track then you are right and the music will effect you in the same way that all other media is intended to.

...come to think of it, the people that would have the greatest benefit from staying away from music would probably be NPC's...

Why not hear the original soundtrack of the world ?

I used love OSTs and ambient , especially the GTAV ost by Tangerine Dream

But sitting on my roof and watching the world go by Is all the ambient I need

I'd keep that stuff in a Faraday cage because if they want ultimate control they'll just EMP the world. The government has preparations in place to bounce back, but we will be on our own

I have when I was broke but that was cereal and coke cola once a day for months

I hope it doesn't happen again

If it does I know I will not be alone this time,

If we have not lost yet it means we will win

It's even worse than that.

I meant the same death that is Holodomor and the Khmer Rouge.

Here's a rough idea on how covid world will evolve like aside that you are not going out any time soon.

We will. Yes, this is a given.

But at what price? If it means civilization being set right back to Congolese or post-Arab Spring Libya levels of deprivation with nobody to keep it in check because everyone is filled with nothing but despair, then we had still lost anyways.

You are on right path from my personal experience, if your aim is to unlearn social conditioning etc. Not everyone has this aim though, so not everyone should do this.

This is common among dharmic faiths (Buddhism, Raja Yoga, Jainism etc.). Those who wish to follow the yogic path abandon pleasure seeking (among other things) during their training, as it prevents the mind from quietening down enough to enable rapid spiritual progress (a side effect is unlearning all forms of conditioning including that of the faith itself).

By the time they come out of training, their natural state of being is already ecstatic enough they don't desire any further pleasure. Example:

Richard Alpert (who later took up Yoga and became Ram Dass) was a Harvard psychology professor, who once went to India and met the Hindu Yogi by the name of Neem Karoli Baba. He gave the man 1200 mcg of pure LSD (4x the typical users' upper limit). The man felt nothing. "LSD didn’t affect Maharajji, Ram Dass implied, because the guru already had such a profoundly mystical outlook."

Source: https://www.ramdass.org/ram-dass-gives-maharaji-the-yogi-medicine/ https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/cross-check/baba-ram-dass-and-the-tale-of-the-acid-gobbling-guru/

Once your mind is quiet enough, you notice that any music of any kind will create "ripples" in this calm mind, disturbing the quietness within. It takes a while for the mind to become quiet again. But to notice that, you must first reach that level of quietness of the mind. The quietness actually allows the satisfaction emanating from within to pervade the mind. If you are interested in this kind of thing start practicing. Here's an source that presents authentic information rather than the New Age nonsense on Amazon.com:

Thanks but I follow no man

I simply wish to see the truth of myself and the world, I want to be in reality 0 , the true world

May peace be upon you ,

I hope we reach enlightenment

Not a problem at all. A strong desire for learning the truth is the first step. Subconsciously, that desire will guide you to the right path for you. I hope you find truth. I hope we all do...

It's all 440 Hz now, that could be the problem. The standardizing of music to 440hz is many websites worth of conspiracy in itself

Listen to music that enhances meditation and mental stimulation. For me, that’s music without lyrics. If I want lyrics, I choose angry bands and then chill out with non-lyric music.

Good music in its place elevates the soul. Worship music especially so.

But I agree there is a time to turn it off and study, pray and meditate instead.

I would recommend looking into more jazz, classical, and some psytrance, throat singing, and various other types of non-vocal music.

The energy that music gives is powerful and can be used for your betterment. I agree though. Avoid trash music it will do more harm than good
