Every Search is a fucking hassle to find what im looking for, much more than even 2020. it seems like the point is to make it as frustrating as possible.

SEO ruined search even before censorship

The Internet has been dead for years.

Google has been unusable since 2020. Duckduckgo can still return some useful results. I hear good things about Yandex.

The absolute state of Google in 2021.

StartPage is my go-to for any search-related term that I can think of. Screw Google, Bing, etc.

Which are the Russian book sites? Like Pirate Bay?

SE's have gotten worse, but using operators we can make them a little better.

At the risk of ruining this method, add something like this to all of your searches:

-fact -myth

The minus sign excludes results containing these words. So exclude any terms that are contaminating your results and you can usually eliminate all the astroturf.

Google straight up ignores operators now. The excluded search terms will end up right in the fucking title.

Ah, I haven't used google in a while. It was working when all the ministry of truth shit first started.

Try a diff search engine.

YouTube search has been returning tragic and depressing, negative vid in response to simple animal searches including death, cannibalism and infant rape among others

the algorithm is alive man. ive either been going entirely insane (possible) or my computer is fucking with me. just the most subtle stuff. Elon said it would be used as a weapon

I've been having a hard time with search engines since Web Crawler stopped using their original algorithm and licensed googles. It's been a while.

Same here, same frustration, have to rely on bits and pieces here and there, basically doing a manual web crawl! Visiting the sites you know, seeing whom they link to etc..

Researching a topic through a search engine has become impossible. I am getting better results by reading books on the topic then looking up words and names I find in there.

YES! I noticed that too! Google results are much worse.

Yup. I can’t find shit I know I’ve read.

Exact headlines I remember and their original sources and I still can’t find the articles.

Anything Covid related is scrubbed.

I will repeat this until you get bored:

LEARN (DON'T JUST TRY, BUT LEARN TO USE) THE SEARCH TOOLS AND GO BEYOND GOOGLE

i think its less of a search engine problem (metager is the best ive found), it seems like internet databases are being censored

1
factdigger 1 point ago +1 / -0

Internet databases?

There are three big Internet search indexes out there:

  1. Google
  2. Bing
  3. Yandex

Pretty much everything else if fucking small or derivative of the above 3 (including meta-search engines like MegaGer).

If you mean that the actual content themselves (other than Youtube/facebook/twitter/big corps) are being censored, and not just the search engines indexing that content, I've seen no evidence of that yet.

In my experience, aside from what all ready know in regards to censorship and promoting "authoritative" sources.

  • Most searches are for recent results and few search engines offer a date setting (and it's programmed pretty poorly in terms of setting the date).
  • Often times you'll get repeat results over and over and over. Here's an example. Take note of the results on the first two pages and then go to through next few pages. An easy tell is that the huffpo article about "Darkest Days" is the top result in the next page multiple times.

Probably huff paid google for that.

1/2 Cash. 1/2 Adrena Chrome.

I've noticed it with Google lens. Use to always pull up faces I was searching now it will only pull up accessories or outfits of the person.
