After saying it was impossible to find I looked again and it was listed at $400 which is pretty fucking steep for a 1980s paperback. Last time I saw one it was for $1000. Thanks for the comment. Effective antibiotics and actual focused vaccines (not the new gene therapy serums combatting Covid nor the recent combo flu vaccines made from questionable source materials) have stamped out most plagues, old and new.

That was my belief as well. However, the pandemic virus itself spread faster than the modes of travel that were available during that time.
The disease was able to spread far faster and cover greater distances than people would have been able to move in the same time period.
